Jongen Deploys Damen's Mobile BWTS

German maritime waste specialist Jongen GmbH has taken delivery of a Damen InvaSave 300 mobile ballast water treatment system (BWTS), which will protect the Elbe from invasive Species.Jongen can now offer IMO-certified ballast water treatment services to ship operators needing to comply with the latest ballast water regulations that came into effect on 8 September 2019.Jongen GmbH delivers waste oil, waste water, and the waste removal services for maritime traffic in the Port of Hamburg. Hatz SilentPACK is a quiet engine. Sound is reduced by up to 90 percent

A double-hulled tanker called Bernhard Dettmer refuels ships in Hamburg Harbor – power supply on board is provided by a Hatz SilentPACK diesel engine. It is end of the working day. Calm returns on board the Bernhard Dettmer, although the diesel engine is running, supplying the ship with power. There is no noise, however, because the engine is running very quietly. This is one of the outstanding features of the Hatz 4L41C SilentPACK engine. The Bernhard Dettmer is a double-hulled tanker, which is used as a bunkering vessel in Hamburg Harbor. Built in 2008, it is 100 m long and 9.50 m wide.

Boaters Get Safety Compliance Advice

With the long-awaited arrival of boating season in Michigan, Fremont Insurance wants to make sure that boaters have properly ensured the seaworthiness of their vessel before making their maiden voyage to avoid costly run-ins with authorities and guarantee the safety of the vessels passengers. "With an abundance of streams, rivers, ponds and lakes that the state has to offer, it should come as no surprise that boating is one of Michigan's most popular summertime activities," said Kurt Dettmer, vice president and chief marketing officer for Fremont Insurance. The United States Coast Guard has identified the top 10 small passenger vessel deficiencies that owners should check for, and correct if necessary, before their next Coast Guard examination.
