ABB Power & Propulsion for 100-meter-plus Superyacht

ABB has won a contract to deliver power and propulsion systems for the superyacht to be constructed by the German yacht builder Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard (A&R). Scheduled for delivery in 2025, the 100-meter-plus vessel will be one of the largest ever constructed at A&R’s yard in Lemwerder, Northern Germany. The extensive scope of ABB systems onboard will include Azipod propulsion, Onboard DC Grid, a 500kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) and Power and Energy Management System (PEMS), whose combined and fully integrated capabilities will reduce emissions, noise, and vibration.

ABB has signed a contract to support icebreaking LNG carrier Christophe de Margerie with remote diagnostics services for increased safety and performance as the vessel completed the transit of the Northern Sea Route, bound for China with Yamal LNG cargo two months earlier than usualThe pioneering icebreaking liquified natural gas (LNG) carrier Christophe de Margerie will now have round-the-clock remote support provided through ABB’s global network of eight ABB Ability Collaborative Operations Centers.

ABB Digitalizes Maritime Maintenance

ABB has added ‘Fleet Intelligence’ to its ABB Ability Collaborative Operations software, providing marine customers with a single and complete overview of their ship system maintenance needs rather than being faced with piecemeal, standalone reporting solutions. Fleet Intelligence addresses a common shortcoming in ship efficiency, where data from manufacturer manuals provide the basis for the planned maintenance system, meaning that equipment is maintained to standards set by vendors rather than being based on the needs of customers.

Radio Holland, Cisco Partner to Spur Maritime Digitization

Radio Holland Group has signed a strategic agreement with American ICT company Cisco. The aim of the cooperation is to help accelerate digitization in the maritime sector by developing and offering maritime ICT solutions such as remote monitoring and diagnostics services, data management and networks on board. Dennis Mol, Chief Operations Officer at the Radio Holland Group, said, “In a challenging maritime market it is Radio Holland’s drive to keep finding and developing solutions that reduce the ‘cost of ownership’ of vessels and improve the efficiency of ship’s operations.

Tracerco New Norway Base

Industrial technology specialist Tracerco, part of the Johnson Matthey Group, has expanded its North Sea operations by establishing its Norwegian base as a fully fledged service centre at new premises in Bergen. The base includes full operational facilities allowing for the storage, maintenance and mobilisation of process diagnostics services across the region.
