Stena Line Intros Belfast - Liverpool RoRo

As a part of the ongoing development of Stena Line’s Irish Sea route network, the Stena Forecaster has been transferred from Stena RoRo to Stena Line and will enter service on the Belfast – Liverpool route from today - Tuesday, 12 February 2019. Stena Forerunner will transfer back to the North Sea and operation on Rotterdam-Killingholm. Stena Line is one of Europe's leading ferry companies with 38 vessels and 20 routes in Northern Europe.“This is another important step in our expansion programme for our ‘diagonal corridor’ services to and from Belfast. Gladding-Hearn’s Refitted Launch Ready for 14 More Years on Delaware Bay

Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, has delivered a retrofitted pilot boat to the Delaware Bay pilots association. New DPS Repositioning Function for Boats

Volvo Penta is enhancing its Dynamic Positioning System to include Repositioning functionality, meaning boaters will be able to make minor alterations to their vessel’s position with a simple tap of the joystick.The feature is the latest element of the company’s Dynamic Positioning System (DPS). DPS, launched in 2009, is part of Volvo Penta’s IPS (Inboard Performance System). GustoMSC Debuts Self-propelled Cantilever Jack-up

The NG-5500X-LD is the latest design in GustoMSC’s series of self-propelled jack-up designs, the NG series. Based on the NG-2500X and NG-1800X designs, the NG-5500X-LD is a solution for light drilling and well intervention in a large number of mature fields in the Southern North Sea, Middle East and South East Asia. The conditions of these fields are characterized by water depths of up to 50 to 80 meters pending the region, traditionally the domain of classic drilling jack-ups and tender barges.

Ocean Endeavor Repair Completed

Harris Pye Engineering Group completed repair works during the two-stage multi-million dollar Diamond Offshore demobilization project for its semi-sub rig Ocean Endeavor from the Black Sea, which completed its contract in January 2016. The initial phase of the repair work, which started in December 2015, while the rig was offshore Constanta, Romania involved cleaning of mud, brine, base oil and skimmer tanks. Extreme Boat Lifts Installed in the Panama Canal

When the Republic of Panama needed lifts for a pair of its service boats, it turned to Golden Boat Lifts for the supply of two custom-designed 7,000 lb. capacity Golden Elevator Lifts for use in the Panama Canal. According to Golden Boat Lifts, everything about the project is oversized and overbuilt, as the Elevator Lifts travel 30 feet – double what is typically needed, due to the extreme water rise in the lock. The installation uses custom brackets that suspend the tracks from a concrete bulkhead.

Simrad's R3016 12U/6X IMO SOLAS CAT 3 Radar System for the commercial shipping market in on the market. The new R3016 12U/6X  IMO type approved radar solution is ideal for use aboard CAT 3 SOLAS vessels1, workboats, tugs and coastal fishing boats. Its 12-kilowatt X-Band transceiver and 6-foot open array scanner are designed for high reliability and low maintenance. Alongside the 6-foot array comes the new Simrad R3016, a compact control unit with a 1366x768-pixel high-definition 15.6” diagonal widescreen display.

Two Simrad Radar Displays Launched

The new Simrad R2009 and R3016 Radar control units, two dedicated radar displays have been launched today for use with Simrad’s award winning radar antenna solutions. The Simrad R2009 Radar control features a 9” portrait display. The Simrad R3016 boasts a 16” wide-screen display. Both systems utilise an intuitive control interface with the latest generation of digital tuning to allow for optimal situational awareness in the most adverse conditions. Outstanding target resolutions are achieved using beam sharpening technology when paired with the Simrad Broadband 3G/4G Radomes or Halo Pulse Compression arrays. The R2009 and R3016 Radar control units are well suited for use as “stand alone” dedicated radar stations.

Utility Catamaran Strait Shooter Launched

Incat Crowther announced the launch of a 91.8 ft Utility Catamaran at Richardson Devine Marine in Tasmania. Built for Carpentaria Contracting, Strait Shooter is an evolution of Limitless, launched in 2009, which has been a great success for its operator. Strait Shooter builds on the design features of Limitless, and adds some more features specifically developed for Carpentaria Contracting. The greatest change has been to implement a large propeller tunnel to reduce the draft of the vessel.

Dockwise Completes Two Tranports for Kristin

Heavy transport shipping specialist Dockwise Shipping in Breda, The Netherlands just completed two shipments of Statoil's Floating Production Platform for the Kristin gas and condensate field in the Norwegian Sea. Dockwise was awarded two contracts for the transportation of a Riser Balcony, a Flare Tower and the FPU hull of Statoil's Kristin platform to be delivered at the Aker Stord yard for completion. First the heavy transport vessel Tern transported the Kristin Riser Balcony and Flare Tower, constructed at the yard of Dragados Offshore in Spain, to the integration site in Stord, Norway.

Largest Passenger Catamaran from Nichols

The largest passenger catamaran to be completed by Nichols Brothers Boat Builders - at 144 ft. in length and with a 450-passenger capacity - was delivered to Catalina Cruises. The four-engine, 36 knot vessel is planned for service between Long Beach, Calif. and Catalina Island. Catalina Jet employs four Caterpillar 3512B, electronically controlled, 1,950-hp diesel engines to power MJP J550 DD waterjets supplied by Ulstein Bird Johnson. Power is transmitted through unique ZF gearboxes with diagonal offset, 1.42:1 ratio reduction gears. An active ride control system was supplied by Maritime Dynamics, to smooth out the passage on the Catalina Channel. The system includes trim tabs and "T-foils" beneath the twin hulls to counteract the pitch and roll motions induced by the sea surface.

Signal Completes Upgrade of The Noble Homer Ferrington

Signal International, LLC has completed a major refurbishment and upgrade of Noble Drilling’s Homer Ferrington semi-submersible drilling rig. The work was completed at Signal International’s East Facility in Pascagoula, Miss. Prefabrication started in February 2004 in anticipation of the rig’s arrival in July. The drill-ready rig departed on schedule and within budget after 109 working days. · Complete zero discharge piping system and misc. Planning, organizing and controlling of the project were executed through a fully integrated (customer/contractor/subcontractor) process. This resulted in the on-time and on-budget delivery of a world-class high-performance mobile offshore drilling unit.

Dockwise Performs Timely Delivery of Shell's Brutus

On January 28, the motor vessel Mighty Servant 3 of heavy transport shipping specialist Dockwise, safely arrived at Corpus, Christi, Texas (after a seven-week voyage) carrying Shell's 14,500-ton Brutus TLP (Tension Leg Platform) hull from South Korea. Moving at a speed of 13 knots, the vessel arrived via the Cape of Good Hope. Dockwise was granted the contract by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the transportation of the TLP hull for Shell's Gulf of Mexico Brutus project. Measuring 266 x 164 ft. (81.2 x 50 m) with a breadth of 266 ft. (81.2 m), the TLP was loaded onboard Mighty Servant 3 by the float-on method at Daewoo. The diagonal setting of the hull on the 131 ft. (40-m) wide deck of Mighty Servant increased the width of the transport to 368 ft.
