GEA equipped two Hapag-Lloyd container ships with the GEA marine Separator which it recently presented at SMM 2018 in Hamburg. Spanish offshore industry player Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has unveiled a giant new 10+ MW wind turbine it claims will boost yields by 30 per cent, paving the way for a new generation of super-charged offshore wind farms.The turbine maker said in a press release that the new SG 10.0-193 DD is set to hit the market in 2022.Based on the experience of its previous generations, the newest wind turbine in the SGRE offshore product portfolio builds on proven technology for maximum energy yield at all wind speeds. It offers the same reliability while improving profitability and reducing risk for customers.“The new SG 10.0-193 DD combines experiences and knowledge from five generations of proven direct drive technology in one 10 MW turbine.

The UK’s first commercial 6 megawatt (MW) wind turbine has been installed at the Westermost Rough wind farm, in a new landmark for renewable energy. The next generation machine, designed by Siemens and erected by DONG Energy, is the first of 35 at the 210MW North Sea project. It is hoped that the ‘round 3’ turbines, with their greater output, will help cut costs for the offshore wind sector. Duncan Clark, Westermost Rough programme director for Dong, said, “This is a major landmark in the construction phase of this project and its achievement is a great credit to the DONG Energy team and our supply chain partners. The Westermost Rough project is 50% owned by DONG Energy, whilst the Green Investment Bank and Marubeni revealed this week they are to refinance part of their 50% shareholding.

DONG Energy & Siemens AG sign up to supply and service a total of 154 offshore wind turbines (OWT) of 6 megawatt each. The agreements give DONG Energy the option to install the turbines on its Gode Wind projects in Germany from 2015. Utilisation of the potential supplies and services under the agreements is subject to official approvals for the specific projects and DONG Energy making a positive investment decision for the projects. Following the acquisition of the ownership interest in the Gode Wind projects in August 2012, DONG Energy invited tenderers for the supply of offshore turbines in accordance with EC tender rules. The agreements signed with Siemens AG are a result of the tender procedure.

The Siemens Energy 6-megawatt installation on trial at Østerild, Denmark, can produce electricity for 6,000 households. Siemens Energy has begun field testing of its new 154 m rotor for the 6-megawatt (MW) offshore wind turbine in Østerild, Denmark. The SWT-6.0-154 turbine is equipped with the world's longest rotor blades – each blade is 75 meters in length. With a record rotor diameter of 154 meters, each SWT-6.0-154 turbine can produce 25 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity in offshore locations, enough to supply 6,000 households.

The framework agreement is in regard to the 
supply and servicing of a total of 300 offshore wind turbines of 6 megawatt 
each, yielding  a total capacity of 1,800 megawatt. The turbines will be installed 
at selected DONG Energy offshore wind farms in the UK in the period 2014-2017. Under the framework agreement, Siemens Energy will design, manufacture, supply, 
install and service the 6 megawatt offshore wind turbines. Furthermore, the 
partners have agreed on product and performance warranties reflecting the size 
of the agreement. The agreement commits DONG Energy to pay a cancellation fee in the event of the 
cancellation of projects comprised by the agreement.
