Hyundai Global Service (HGS), the aftercare division of shipbuilder and engine maker Hyundai Heavy Industries, has teamed up with ABB Turbocharging to offer an engine part-load optimization (EPLO) service for shipowners seeking to cut emissions in line with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) requirements.Ahead of the entry into force of the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Index (CII) regulations in 2023, many vessel owners are looking to engine power limitation as a solution.

MAN Diesel & Turbo has announced the development of a new turbocharger series specifically matched to the requirements of two-stroke engines. For the first time ever, MAN Diesel & Turbo will develop a turbocharger series exclusively for two-stroke engines that is especially designed and optimized to fulfill Tier III requirements. Compared to the TCA turbocharger range, successfully introduced by the company during the last decade, TCT efficiency shows an increase of 5% through using newly-developed compressor and turbine-wheel geometry…

New TOTE Containership Receives MAN Turbochargers

The 3,100-teu container ship ordered by American marine transportation company TOTE, will be powered by an all-MAN package including main engine, auxiliary engines and turbochargers
. The recent delivery of the world’s first dual-fuel, low-speed ME-GI engine from Doosan Engine to National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) has set a new, historical milestone in engine technology, say MAN Diesel & Turbo. The 8L70ME-C8.2-GI main engine is aspirated by 2 × TCA66 turbochargers and in addition the ship will receive 3 × 9L28/32DF auxiliary engines, each featuring a single TCR18 turbocharger. A second, identical vessel is currently under construction.
