SevenCs Release ChartServer 4.3

SevenCs explains that ChartServer is a WMS server that enables the user to view nautical chart data (e.g. S-63 encrypted ENCs). S-63; ARCS; DNC; VMap; ARINC; DTED. It also includes the newly improved chart loading and installation tool - Chart Handler. ChartServer can be used in combination with or as a backdrop to other geo-spatial data layers (e.g. weather). Offshore Systems's Electronic Navigation System Meets DoD’s Standards

Offshore Systems International Ltd., a marine electronic navigation company with a strong defense niche, announced that its proprietary Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS(R)-M) has been re-validated to meet the latest published chart data and display library standards by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) of the U.S. Department of Defense for Direct Read of NIMA Digital Nautical Charts (DNC). OSI Validation Vastly Expands Markets

Offshore Systems International Ltd. - a leader in electronic charts and positioning systems for the maritime industry -- announced that Offshore's Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS) has been validated by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) of the U.S. Department of Defense for "proper and complete" display of NIMA Digital Nautical Chart (DNC) in Vector Product Format (VPF). DNC is the official electronic chart used by the U.S. Navy. Earlier this year, NIMA completed digitization of the worldwide DNC coverage required by the United States Navy for military use. The Canadian Department of National Defense (DND) requires the capability to operate with DNC charts, and initiated the development and test program with Offshore.

Navy Ship Certified for “Paperless” Nav

The Aegis guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71) is equipped with the first Electronic Chart Display and Information System – Navy (ECDIS-N) approved for use by Navy surface ships. ECDIS-N, developed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit, was authorized for use in May 2005 after an extensive certification process to ensure it met the Navy’s requirements for safe navigation. Northrop Grumman has supplied the advanced Integrated Bridge System and Voyage Management System electronic charting software for the first U.S. Navy ship authorized to navigate using Digital Nautical Charts (DNC) supplied by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Innovative Double Hull Re-Build

Tampa Bay Shipbuilding & Repair Company was recently chosen by Maritrans Operating Partners L.P., a subsidiary of Maritrans, Inc., to retro-fit the company's second single-hull vessel, Ocean 244, to meet the requirements of OPA 90, through double-hull conversion. Tampa Bay Shipbuilding & Repair Company will utilize the same Maritrans innovative CAD and manufacturing process (patent pending by Maritrans) used on Tampa's first conversion of Maritrans 192 (former Ocean 192).
