Queen Mary 2 set for Extensive Blohm + Voss Refit

On May 27, at 8:00 PM, the Queen Mary 2 docked at Blohm+Voss at dry dock ELBE 17, well-known to the ocean liner. There, the flagship of the long-established British shipping company Cunard Line will undergo the largest refit program since being brought into service. It is the sixth time that the Queen Mary 2 docks at Blohm+Voss. A total of 50 new cabins are fitted or remodeled in line with this year’s master refit, 35 of them in the front section of deck 13. In addition, Blohm+Voss has prefabricated several steel deck sections with a total weight of approx. 200 tons that will also be installed on deck 13 by the shipyard’s specialists; furthermore, comprehensive modernizations in the hotel, entertainment and gastronomy areas of the ocean liner are part of the current construction schedule.

Today only one remains: Blohm+Voss. Two P&O Cruise Ships Getting Complete Overhauls

On November 16, 2011, the luxury cruise liner "MS Oriana" of P&O CRUISES was floated into Dock 11 of Blohm + Voss Repair. Four weeks are required to complete the overhaul and renovation work. On December 17, 2011, the "MS Oriana“ is scheduled to leave Hamburg. The extensive renovation covers various areas. Queen Mary 2 Undocking

After having been docked for 20 days in dry dock ELBE 17 of Blohm + Voss Repair, a company of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the Queen Mary 2 is planned to be undocked on November 13, 2008 as scheduled. The longest ocean liner worldwide is to be undocked with the morning high tide at 3:30 a.m.* (high tide: 4:01 a.m.) to leave for Southampton to start the next transatlantic voyage to New York on November 15, at 5 p.m. After the period at the Hamburg shipyard Blohm + Voss Repair, the Queen Mary 2 will be fit for service for another five years.

LPG Tanker Repaired, Modernized and Converted

The 977-ft. LPG tanker Matthew was docked on August 17 into dry dock Elbe 17 of Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH to be repaired, modernized and converted in 33 days. The ship will be berthed at the quay for another 12 days so that tests can be carried out and the equipment set to work in cooperation with the crew, which stayed on board during the docking period. The Matthew, a large order for the traditional Hamburg shipyard, has hundreds of people working around the clock, seven days a week so as to hand over the ship to Cabot LNG Corp as scheduled.
