Vard, a Norwegian firm specializing in shipbuilding and design, said Friday its subsidiary in Vietnam, Vard Vung Tau, had delivered a newbuild 944 Grampian Tees service operation vessel to owner North Star.This SOV is the third of four purpose-designed and built ships destined for decade-long minimum charters to support operations and maintenance (O&M) work at the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm.Once the wind farm currently under construction is fully operational, it will become the largest in the world, producing enough electricity to power six million British homes.

GE Wants to Build Offshore Wind Blade, Nacelle Manufacturing Sites in New York
General Electric recently filed a plan to build two new offshore wind manufacturing facilities in New York if it wins enough orders from companies in the stateâs ongoing solicitation for up to 4.6 GW of offshore wind.GE proposed building the factories with Carver Companies at their Port of Coeymans site. Jan De Nul's Newbuild Jack-up Voltaire Suffers 'Limited Damage' in China Typhoon
Offshore installation specialist Jan De Nul Group said Thursday that the shipyard in China where its flagship jack-up installation vessel Voltaire is being built, was hit by typhoon Muifa in China during the night of 14 to 15 September 2022."The eye of the typhoon passed over the shipyard, causing the vessel to come loose from its moorings. Fortunately, no one was injured. Voltaire is now safely moored back in the shipyard and first sight assessments show limited damage to certain parts of the crane and the helideck.

Partners Group, a global private markets firm, has agreed, on behalf of its clients, to buy North Star, a UK-based operator of emergency response and rescue vessels, which has recently also dived into the offshore wind sector with several orders made for essential offshore wind maintenance services vessels, from Basalt Infrastructure Partners for an undisclosed price.Aberdeen-based North Star has a fleet of 48 Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs) and Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) and around 1,400 employees.
