On Saturday June 18, Webb Institute awarded 19 Bachelor of Science degrees at its 120th Commencement Ceremony. Lockport, La.-based Bollinger Shipyards announced that Ben Bordelon will assume the duties of chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company. Ben Bordelon, along with the Chouest family from Galliano, La., has acquired all assets and stock of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. Bordelon has served in many capacities during his career at Bollinger, and has been a member of the board of directors since 2002. Tidewater Inc. announced today that it has entered into a $45 million construction contract with Bollinger Shipyards Lockport LLC for the construction of four (4) offshore supply vessels. The high performance, high capacity 207-foot platform supply vessels will be delivered during the period beginning in October 2003 and ending in May 2004. Prior to entering into the contract, Donald T. "Boysie" Bollinger, chairman and C.E.O. of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., resigned from his position as a director of Tidewater. Dean Taylor, C.E.O. and president of Tidewater, commented, "It is with mixed emotions that we are making these announcements.

Bollinger Shipyards and Incat Australia have come to an agreement to market and build high speed vessels to Incat designs in the U.S. Known for its K Class aluminum catamarans, Incat has to date built more than 40 percent of the worldwide fleet of high-speed passenger ferries more than 230 ft. (70 m). The two companies have been working together on a proposal to an unnamed owner for a unique wave-piercing vessel that can transport 500 passengers and various vehicles at speeds of more than 40 knots. The design resembles that of the Incat Tasmania, which includes two slender aluminum hulls connected by a bridging section with a center bow structure at the forward end. One 282 ft.

The deal is significant in that earlier this year chief INCAT rival Austal Ships struck a deal with Mobile, Ala.-based Bender Shipbuilding to build a new shipyard in Mobile for the same purpose. INCAT is privately owned and is the innovator and builder of the world speed record holding Wave Piercing and K Class aluminum catamarans. The 27 year-old company has built over 30, or approximately 40% of the worldwide fleet of high-speed passenger ferries over 230 feet (70M) in length.

On April 21, 2005, Herschel T. Vinyard, Jr., Vice President of Atlantic Marine Holding Company, was re-elected Chairman of the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA). Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger, CEO of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, LA, was elected Vice Chairman. The elections occurred during the annual SCA Spring Meeting held in Arlington, VA. SCA is the largest and most broadly-based national trade association representing the U.S. shipyard industry. SCA members build, repair and service America's fleet of commercial vessels. SCA members constitute the shipyard industrial base that maintains and repairs Navy combatant ships and other government craft, as well as builds small and midsized vessels for the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and other government agencies.

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) announced that Steve Welch, chief executive officer of Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., has been elected its new chairman, replacing Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger, chief executive officer of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. Butch King, chief executive officer of VT Halter Marine, Inc., was elected to the position of vice-chair. The elections took place during the Council’s annual Spring Meeting, held April 30 through May 1, in Washington, DC.

An important milestone, and one of the first building projects in the massive $17 billion transformation of the United States Coast Guard in its Deepwater program, took place at Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, La., with the decommissioning of the 110-ft. Island Class Patrol Boat, USCG MATAGORDA. Donald T. 'Boysie' Bollinger, chairman and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., and chairman of the National Shipyard Association (NSA) and Daniel L. Gulling, president of Marinette Marine Corp., and chairman of the Shipbuilders Council of America have announced the merger of the two associations. The new association, also called Shipbuilders Council of America, represents more than 50 shipyard companies that own and operate more than 100 shipyards in 20 states. The newly combined SCA companies employ more than 30,000 shipyard workers building, repairing and servicing all types of commercial and government vessels. According to Bollinger, "The consolidation of NSA and SCA brings together the most successful and innovative shipyards in the U.S. under one national trade association.

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., has promoted and/or assigned new responsibilities to the following members of its management team in order to meet the demands of increased business, new products, expanded services and new technologies according to Donald T. Mike Ellis has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company.
