MT Caribbean Galaxy Delivered

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed and delivered a 110,000 dwt type double hull crude oil tanker M.T. Caribbean Galaxy (MES Hull No. 1713) at its Chiba Works to South Eternity Shipping Inc., Panama, a subsidiary of Nan Fung Shipping Limited., Liberia on December 17, 2009. This is the 15th Aframax Tanker of 137.8-ft beam with the largest deadweight and the largest cargo tank capacity. Length, o.a. Length, b.p.

Tanker Delivery - MV Eagle Sapporo

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) completed and delivered a 110,000 dwt type double hull crude oil tanker, the Eagle Sapporo (MES Hull No. 1696) at its Chiba Works to Maybaru Shipping & Trading Pte Ltd, Singapore on December 10, 2008. This is the 11th Aframax Tanker in this series which has the largest deadweight and the largest cargo tank capacity with 42 meter beam and an overall length 804 ft. •    The vessel has a cargo tank capacity of 128,000 m3 and deadweight of 110,400 tons, which are the largest class for Aframax Tanker with 42 meter beam. •    The vessel has the newest hull form including bulbous bow stern arrangement and has MIPB (Mitsui Integrated Propeller Boss with Wing) as energy-saving device…

MES Delivers Tanker

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed and delivered a 110,000 dwt type double hull crude oil tanker M.T. “YASA GOLDEN DARDANELLES” (MES Hull No. 1673) at its Chiba Works to YA-SA TANKER AND TRANSPORTATION S.A. This is the 8th Aframax Tanker of 42 meter beam with the largest deadweight and the largest cargo tank capacity.

TEN Delivers Tanker

TEN Accepts Delivery of Double-Hull Suezmax Tanker

Tsakos Energy Navigation Limited (TEN) announced the delivery of the 162,400dwt 1A Ice-Class double-hull crude oil tanker "Archangel" from Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. The vessel is the first in a series of eight 1A ice-class vessels the Company is building and the sixth ice-class vessel to join TEN's existing fleet. The Archangel will operate in the spot market to take advantage of current firm rates. Joining the 1C ice-class suezmax Eurochampion 2004, Archangel is the second suezmax out of the seven modern suezmaxes in the fleet to have spot employment. The remaining five operate on time charters and profit sharing arrangements.

NASSCO Awarded SeaRiver Deal

National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, announced that it had reached an agreement with SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. (SeaRiver) of Houston, Texas, to develop a contract design for a 750,000-barrel capacity, double-hull crude oil tanker. Included with the contract design package will be NASSCO’s price and delivery proposal for the detail design and construction of a minimum of two vessels. The SeaRiver tankers will be designed primarily for the movement of crude oil from Alaska to West Coat refineries. "We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with SeaRiver on the design of a new double-hull tanker," said Richard Vortmann, president of NASSCO. Work on the contract design will begin immediately and will be delivered by September 2003.

Shipping Co. Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Heavy Machinery for Niarchos Ltd./Anole Shipping Co., World Crest is a 306,000-dwt double hull crude oil tanker under Greece flag, which was delivered in December 2002. Designed and built to meet the standard of ABS rule and classed +A1(E), "Oil Carrier, ESP", SH, +ACCU, +AMS, RES, SHCM, NIBS, with the descriptive notes of VEC, SPM and UWILD. To enhance environmental protection up-to-date International Rule & Reg. including MARPOL Annex IV and VI have been applied and H.F.O tanks arranged as double hull. Other requirements and Industrial standards also have been considered such as OCIMF recommendations and USCG Requirement, etc.

NEWS:SeaRiver Exits Inland Operations

National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) reached an agreement with SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. to develop a contract design for a 750,000-barrel capacity, double-hull crude oil tanker. Included with the contract design package will be NASSCO's price and delivery proposal for the detail design and construction of a minimum of two vessels. The SeaRiver tankers will be designed primarily for the movement of crude oil from Alaska to West Coat refineries. Work on the contract design will begin immediately and will be delivered by September 2003. Subject to SeaRiver's acceptance of NASSCO's proposed price and delivery schedule, the agreement is expected to lead to a detail design and construction contract by the end of 2003.
