ACL Recognizes Safe Liquid Cargo Handlers

American Commercial Lines presented Marine Environmental Stewardship Awards on Wednesday, July 16 in Houston, Texas, recognizing 35 customers for safe handling of chemicals, petroleum products and other liquid cargos. The customers recognized by ACL safely handled over two billion gallons of chemicals, petroleum products and other liquid cargoes with the barge transportation company in 2013. PPG Appoints Bausch Vice President

PPG Industries announced that Shelley J. Bausch will join the company as vice president, global industrial coatings, effective Jan. 16. She will report to Viktor Sekmakas, PPG executive vice president. “We are delighted to welcome Shelley to PPG," Sekmakas said. Bausch joins PPG from Dow Corning, where she began her career in 1988. Most recently she was business vice president, finished products, based in Midland, Mich., leading a unit with more than 1,000 employees and 15 plants that served internal clients and delivered more than $2 billion of external sales.

Atlantic Pacific Marine Reports Unprecedented Growth

Unprecedented growth for Atlantic Pacific Marine, one of the world’s fast growing marine and offshore engineering services companies, has resulted in it having to open a new UK HQ. In just three years since its 2010 set-up, the company has seen turnover soar to over £4million, with net profits consistently over 25%. Turnover to-date for 2013 is £4.2 million, against a net profit of £1.3million. Atlantic Pacific Marine’s customers include Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises,P&O,Wartsila, Total Oil and NOV.

NOL Reports First Half Profit of $11M

In summarizing his company's results, Mr. Flemming R. "We have achieved much. We came from a difficult past and we are on the right track to return to full health, but we are not there yet. We would have preferred a little more time to consolidate all we have achieved and are achieving before having to deal with a severe downturn in the economic environment like this one. "2001 is proving a tough year -- and, while this result is disappointing, we have to remember where we started from and accept that sustained profitability is not achieved magically overnight," Jacobs said. The Group recorded serious losses in 1997-98 when the Asian crisis hit just as it had purchased the American liner business, APL.
