Demanding Times for DSC Dredge

The dynamic dredge builder navigates a complicated dredge building market by augmenting an impressive array of standard equipment with a customized approach that satisfies domestic and international customers alike. It isn’t as easy as it looks. The New Year typically brings new challenges to all sectors of the waterfront and 2018 will be no different. As the newly expanded and improved Panama and Suez Canals bring larger, so-called post-Panamax vessels to U.S. shores, stakeholders tend to focus on domestic dredging needs. And, there’s plenty of that to go around. At the same time, global infrastructure requirements are also growing.

Damen Wins Best Paper Award at WODCON

At the WODCON 2016 held last week in Miami, Damen was awarded the “Best Paper Award” for a paper on efficient dredge pump design, written and presented by Klaas Slager. The WODCON is the annual conference of the Wester Dredging Association, where dredging specialist gather to discuss developments in the industry. In total some 120 presentations were held over the four-day gathering. Ellicott Dredges 125th Anniversary

Ellicott Dredges, founded in 1885, celebrated its 125th anniversary by taking a dinner cruise around the Port of Baltimore aboard the turn of the century paddlewheel riverboat The Black-Eyed Susan. The Port (which Ellicott's predecessors helped create in the 1700s with the first dredge, a two horse power-driven machine) has written a feature story about Ellicott Dredges in the latest edition of its magazine. Ellicott Dredges Federal Expansion Grant

The U.S. Department of Transportation (Maritime Administration) has announced that Ellicott Dredges, LLC of Baltimore, Md. has won a grant for $1.75m to help finance capacity expansion for manufacturing dredgers. Ellicott's project, entitled "Efficient Dredge Building," will create and retain over 20 jobs and will increase Ellicott's crane capacity and modernize its machining capabilities. It will also help pay for modern welding equipment and state-of-the-art IT systems for manufacturing and engineering.
