Seadrill Acquires High-end Jack-up Rig 'Prospector 3'

Seadrill Limited has entered into an agreement to acquire the company that owns the yard construction contract of the newbuild high specification jack-up rig 'Prospector 3' from Prospector Offshore for a total purchase price of US$235 million. In addition, Seadrill will provide drilling and handling tools, spares and operations preparations resulting in a total cost for this rig, ready to drill, of approximately US$250 million. The Prospector 3 is scheduled to be delivered from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd. (DSIC Offshore) in China during the first quarter of 2014. The new unit is based on the F&G JU2000E design, with water depth capacity of 400ft and drilling depth of 35,000ft.

ChIna Shipyard Wins Two More Seadrill Jack-up Orders

Seadrill Limited has ordered tow high-specification jack up drilling rigs from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd. (DSIC Offshore). The newbuild rigs are scheduled for delivery during the second and third quarters of 2016, and the total project price per rig is approximately US$230 million (including project management, capitalized interest, drilling and handling tools, spares and operation preparations), with tail-heavy payment terms. The two new units will be based on the F&G JU2000E design, with water depth capacity of 400ft and drilling depth of 30,000ft. Seadrill now has in total ten jack-ups under construction at DSIC Offshore of which two are scheduled for delivery in 2013, five in 2015 and three in 2016.

Korean Yard to Build Fourth Atwood Ultra-deepwater Drillship

An Atwood Oceanics subsidiary has entered into a turnkey construction contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to construct a fourth ultra-deepwater drillship, to be named 'Atwood Archer'. The Atwood Archer is expected to be delivered by December31, 2015 at a total cost, including two blowout preventers , project management, drilling and handling tools and spares, of approximately $635-million. Upon delivery, the new rig will become the seventeenth mobile offshore drilling unit owned by the Company.

China Yard Gets Seadrill Jack-up Rig Orders

Seadrill Limited contracts with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd. (DSIC Offshore) in China for the  construction of two high specification jack-up drilling rigs. The newbuild rigs are scheduled for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2015 and the first quarter of 2016, and the total project price per rig is approximately US$230 million (including project management, capitalized interest, drilling and handling tools, spares and operation preparations), with tail-heavy payment terms.

Atwood Oceanics Orders Third Ultra-Deepwater Drillship

The Atwood Admiral is expected to be delivered by March 31, 2015 at a total cost, including two blowout preventers ("BOPs"), project management, drilling and handling tools and spares, of approximately $635 million. The design of the Atwood Admiral will be identical to the previously ordered Atwood Advantage and Atwood Achiever – all three are DP-3 dynamically-positioned, dual derrick ultra-deepwater drillships rated to operate in water depths up to 12,000 feet and drill to a depth of up to 40,000 feet.

Seadrill Orders New Ultra-deepwater Drillship

Seadrill has entered into a turnkey contract to build a new ultra-deepwater drillship at the Samsung yard in South Korea, for 2014 delivery. The project value price is estimated to be around US$600 million (including project management, drilling and handling tools, spares, capitalized interest and operations preparations) with tail-heavy payment terms payable upon delivery, which is scheduled within the fourth quarter 2014. The drillship will be of the same design as the existing six drillships under construction at Samsung and will have a hook load capability of 1,250 tons and a water depth capacity of up to 12,000 feet targeting operations in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and West and East Africa.

SHI South Korea Yard to Build Two Ultra-deep Drillships for Seadrill

Seadrill has entered into turnkey contracts to build two new ultra-deepwater drillships at Samsung in South Korea. The construction of the drillships is scheduled for completion in the second and third quarter 2014. Total project price per drillship is estimated to be under US$600 million, which includes a turnkey contract with the yard, project management, drilling and handling tools, spares, capitalized interest and operations preparations. Seadrill has also a fixed price option to order an additional drillship for delivery in 2014. The drillships are of the same design as the three previous dual derrick drillships that Seadrill ordered at Samsung late 2010 and early 2011, with increased water depth, technical capabilities and accommodation capacities.
