Dubai Maritime City to Join UAE-Korea Forum

Dubai Maritime City's team led by Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World, to participate in the UAE-Korea Economic Partnership Forum 2013. The event is supported by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Department of Economic Department, Foreign Direct Investment. The forum, from May 27-28, 2013 in Seoul, Korea, is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, supported by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Department of Economic Department, Foreign Direct Investment.

DMCA Evaluates "Serenade of the Seas"

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) conducted an evaluation meeting to analyze the results of the recent Ship Board Fire Drill conducted on Serenade of the Seas a cruise ship currently berthed in Dubai’s Mina Rashid Cruise Terminal. The meeting saw extensive participation by representatives from the entities involved in the drill, where they looked into the performance and strengths of the Cruise Ship Emergency Response Task Force and pointed out areas requiring further attention in order to maximize safety for both passengers and crew. The evaluation is part of broader efforts by public and private entities to improve emergency procedures and promote maritime safety standards, in line with a common vision to promote a safe and highly developed maritime industry in Dubai.

Dubai Maritime City Ends Cruise Season With Safety Drill

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, has announced that the Cruise Ship Emergency Response Task Force, convened in September, 2011, to address the challenges presented by the introduction of ever larger cruise ships to the UAE waters, hosted the first cruise sector mass casualty table top exercise and drill last week. Costa Favolosa Calls Dubai

Costa Cruises opened its sixth season in the Emirates  with the inaugural call in Dubai of the flagship Costa Favolosa. A welcoming ceremony has celebrated the first arrival of the flagship at the port, at the presence  of  Awah Al Ketbi, CEO of AL Ketbi Consultancy, the company which is running Costa representative office in Dubai, and Captain Mauro Muratore, joined by government officials and VIP Guests from DTCM (Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing), tourism and maritime sectors. The Costa Favolosa (114,500 gross tonnage and 3,800 total Guests) is the largest and most advanced ship ever deployed in the Emirates, a cruise destination offered by Costa for the first time in the world back in 2006.

Final Stage of Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy Begins

Government and non-government entities working in the maritime sector of Dubai and associated with it, are reaching the final stages of the development of a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind maritime sector strategy (MSS) for the Emirate. UAE Merchant Marine Cadets Graduate

Merchant marine cadets from a United Arab Emirates training ship graduated at a special ceremony held during Seatrade Middle East Maritime 2008, the largest maritime event of its kind in the region, which opened Sunday, 14 December 2008. The deck cadets were the sixth batch of students of the Birla Institute of Technology International Centre for Maritime Studies and Ship Management to pass out after training on the Ras Al Khaimah-berthed training ship Sindbad. Middle East Maritime Talks Emissions

Fuel, emissions and green technology is one of the crucial areas to come under discussion at one of the conferences that will take place alongside Seatrade Middle East Maritime 2008. Like other industries globally, shipping is facing increasingly tough international challenges to achieve emission reductions. Det Norske Veritas, one of Seatrade Middle East Martime's principal sponsors, believe that carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by as much as 30–50% by actions taken on existing vessels now and for new buildings prior to 2030. The region is playing an increasingly important role in world shipping with the now one of the most active international maritime centres in the world.

COSTA Ships Debut in Dubai

Starting from December 2006 the Italian Costa Crociere SpA, which operates the brands AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere, will be offering cruises with departures from Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The official announcement was made during a series of official meetings, set to take place in Dubai on February 1 and 2, 2006, between a delegation from Costa Crociere – headed by Costa Crociere SpA Chairman & CEO Pier Luigi Foschi, Costa Crociere President Gianni Onorato, and AIDA Cruises SVP Operations Michael Ungerer – and political and administrative leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Deputy Chairman of DP World, and Khalid bin Sulayem, Director General of the DTCM (Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing).
