RH Marine to Provide Technology for New ASW Frigate Quartet Destined for Dutch, Belgian Navies

Damen Naval, a naval shipbuilding division of the Dutch Damen Shipyards Group,  has signed a contract with the first Dutch supplier for the four new Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Frigates to be built for the Dutch and Belgian Navies. Netherlands-based RH Marine will supply the Integrated Mission Management System (IMMS), the Integrated Navigation Bridge System (INBS), and the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for each of the four frigates for the Dutch and Belgian Navies.

Damen Shipyards Partners with Port Accelerator PortXL

Dutch Damen Shipyards Group has become a corporate partner of the PortXL accelerator program for the maritime industry.PortXL has been described as the world’s first port accelerator. Its objective is the acceleration of innovative technologies for the green energy, maritime, logistics, and process industry in port regions across the world.This is not the first time Damen has been connected with PortXL. In 2015 Damen was one of the first companies to support the start-up support program in its early days. “We will be participating again from this year on,” explains Tom Akkerman of Damen.

Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier for Allseas' Pioneering Spirit Vessel

Dutch Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 1605 to offshore installation firm Allseas to support its Pioneering Spirit vessel, the largest offshore construction vessel in the world.The FCS 1605 vessel will perform fast crew and personnel transfers to and from the Pioneering Spirit. Damen secured the contract for the vessel, named Ricochet, on March 15. "The delivery was fast as a result of Damen’s practice of building its vessels in series for stock. When Allseas placed its order with Damen, the FCS 1605 was already built.

Damen, MO4 In Pact to Further Digitalize Offshore Wind Ops

Dutch Damen Shipyards Group has teamed up with technology firm MO4 specializing in offshore motion prediction, to take a step towards the digitalization of offshore wind farm operations. "This strategic alliance pairs Damen’s Triton monitoring platform with MO4 motion forecasting knowledge, offering data analytic-based services. Damen Equipment for Korea's Oil Spill Recovery/Dredging Vessel

Dutch Damen Shipyards Group has signed a deal with Korean yard Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction (HHIC) to deliver components for an oil recovery/dredging vessel. Under the deal, Damen will deliver all equipment for oil recovery operations as well as a complete dredging installation. The 5,000 tons, 4,100 m3 vessel multi-purpose vessel will primarily act as an oil recovery vessel, and will undertake work as a hopper dredger when not tending to emergencies.The equipment package comprises the dredging gear, the oil sweeping gear, and the electric and hydraulic system.

SAAM Towage Azimuth Tug Pair Ready to Work

The azimuth tugs SAAM Huasteca and SAAM Valparaíso, both owned by SAAM Towage, reached the ports of Veracruz and Colón, respectively, and will soon complete the process of registering and being licensed to operate.SAAM Huasteca is designed to perform escort functions, as required for large container ships to best enter the recently inaugurated northern area at the port of Veracruz, Mexico. Damen Reports First Loss in 15 Years

Netherlands-based shipbuilding giant Dutch Damen Shipyards Group reported a net loss of EUR 17 million (USD 19.1 million) in 2018 - the first time in fifteen years.Damen reports that its financial situation stems from a sustained period of difficulty in a number of maritime sectors and investments it has made in its future.Notably, despite rising oil prices, the offshore hydrocarbon sectors continue to present tough trading conditions. Damen to Take Over DSME’s Mangalia Shipyard

Dutch Damen Shipyards Group has completed negotiations with the Romanian Government on the Mangalia shipyard. René H. Berkvens, CEO said, “We are very pleased with the positive and constructive discussions held with Andruşcă, the Romanian Minister of Economy, and his team. We look forward to a positive result of the shareholders’ vote at the extraordinary shareholders meeting of March 30th, where hopefully the pre-emption right will be waived. The 67m Fast Yacht Support vessel, GARÇON, built by Damen, has won the ISS Awards of Distinction for Innovation at the International Superyacht Society Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale. GARÇON came out top of an industry-led voting process that assessed five shortlisted entries in the competitive and broad-ranging Innovation category.
