Gasunie to Charter New Fortress Energy FSRU to Reduce Dutch Reliance on Russian Gas

New Fortress Energy has executed a binding agreement to charter a floating storage and regasification unit (“FSRU”) to Dutch energy network operator Gasunie, in an effort by the Netherlands to reduce Russian gas imports. The chartered FSRU will provide storage capacity of approximately 170,000 m3 of liquefied natural gas with peak regasification capacity of 900 mmscfd. New Fortress Energy's FSRU will work in tandem with a third party’s FSRU to provide up to 8 bcm per year of total regas capacity.

Germany to Charter Four FSRUs in Push to Cut Reliance on Russian Gas

The German government on Thursday signed agreements for the charters of four floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), as it works to become less reliant on Russian gas, as FSRUs will enable it to import LNG from other sources.The agreements were signed for the charters of two FSRUs owned by Oslo-listed firm Hoegh LNG, and two owned by Dynagas. Hoegh LNG FSRUs will be operated by RWE, while Uniper has facilitated the charter of two FSRUs managed by Dynagas Ltd.Höegh LNG said that the detailed FSRU contracts with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action…

GasLog Withdraws from Golar 'Cool Pool'

The owner and operator of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers GasLog and spin-off GasLog Partners are withdrawing their LNG carriers from their pooling joint venture with Golar LNG.The Cool Pool was launched in September 2015 with 14 tri-fuel diesel engine (TFDE) LNG carriers contributed by three owners: three ships from Dynagas Ltd, three from GasLog Ltd  and eight from Golar LNG Ltd.Golar LNG Limited announced in a press release that due to the potential spin-off of its TFDE fleet into a new pure-play LNG shipping entity, GasLog has decided to withdraw its six vessels from the Cool Pool. Golar, or, subject to interim market conditions, the spin-off entity, will assume ownership of the Cool Pool following GasLog's departure in June.

60 Liebherr Ship Cranes for Yamalmax Newbuilds at DSME

Liebherr’s ship crane department has secured orders to equip 15 new vessels of the South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., LTD (DSME) with one ship set of four units type CBW 2100 each. That means a summarized order volume of 60 Liebherr ship cranes. The 15 ordered and identical vessels are liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers with a capacity of 172,600 cubic meters and a total length of 299 meters. They are specially designed and adapted for the extreme environmental conditions around the Russian peninsula Yamal.

ABB Turbocharging, the leading provider for the manufacture and maintenance of turbochargers for 500 kW to 80+ MW diesel and gas engines, has signed a long-term Maintenance Management Agreement (MMA) with Dynagas Ltd. The service contract covers all Dynagas TFDE (tri-fuel diesel electric) vessels: Arctic Aurora, Yenisei River, Lena River, Clean Planet, Clean Ocean, Clean Horizon and Clean Vision. In order to ensure the reliability of operation of all the 42 turbochargers operating on Dynagas Ltd vessels, ABB Turbocharging is fully accountable for scheduling in advance turbochargers’ regular servicing for a period of 3 years, relieving the customer of both the technical and administrative workload.

Dynagas, GasLog, Golar LNG Team up to Operate LNG Carrier Pool

Dynagas Ltd., GasLog Ltd. and Golar LNG Ltd today jointly announced having entered into an LNG carrier pooling agreement to market their vessels, which are currently operating in the LNG shipping spot market. The LNG Carrier Pool allows the participating owners to optimise the operation of the pool vessels through improved scheduling ability, cost efficiencies and common marketing. The objective of the LNG Carrier Pool is to serve the transportation requirements of a rapidly growing LNG shipping market by providing customers with reliable, more flexible, and innovative solutions to meet their increasingly complex shipping requirements.

Hyundai Heavy $600M Order for LNG Carriers

Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipbuilder, won a $600 million order to build two 155,000 m3 LNG carriers, including an option for another same class vessel, from Greece-based Dynagas Ltd. These membrane-type LNG carriers are due for delivery in the second half of 2013. They will feature the Dual Fuel Diesel Engine System which allows the ship to run on oil fuel or natural gas. South Korea Shipyard Stocks Surge

According to a report from Bloomberg, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. (009540 KS) surged 11% percent after receiving an order for two LNG ships Dynagas Ltd. of Greece, Samsung Heavy Industries Co. (010140 KS) gained 1.8% after it won a $3b order to build a FPSO facility for Shell Development Pty Ltd., Daewoo Shipbuilding (042660 KS) rose 1.8% and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (010620 KS) rose 3.5%.     (Source: Bloomberg)
