Eagle LNG Project Clears FERC Hurdle

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued the order granting authorization for siting and constructing of the proposed on-water Jacksonville liquefied natural gas (LNG) Export Facility, developer Eagle LNG Partners LLC announced.The LNG export facility and terminal, planned in Jacksonville, Florida, will have a production capacity of approximately 1.65 million LNG-gallons per day with 12 million LNG-gallons of storage plus marine- and truck-loading capabilities located on-site.“The FERC authorization for Eagle LNG’s Jacksonville LNG Export facility has been many years and countless hours in the making. Eagle LNG Receives Draft EIS

Eagle LNG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferus Natural Gas Fuels, informed that the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted the company their draft environmental impact statement (DEIS).The draft EIS puts Eagle LNG on a clear path to FID on the Jacksonville Export Project and continues Eagle LNG’s success in using small-scale LNG to supply bunkering to the marine industry and to provide small scale LNG cargoes to markets in the Caribbean.“Our customers, and potential clients, join us in being encouraged that FERC has released the DEIS ahead of schedule. U.S. based Crowley Maritime Corp. has taken delivery of one of the world’s first combination container/roll on-roll off (ConRo) ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), from shipbuilder VT Halter Marine Inc. The Jones Act compliant El Coquí is the first of two Commitment Class, LNG-powered ConRo ships being built for Crowley’s shipping and logistics services between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.Operated by Crowley’s global ship management group, El Coquí will make its maiden voyage to San Juan later this month from Jacksonville (JAXPORT), its dedicated U.S. mainland port.

Crowley Loads First Cargo at New Eagle LNG Plant

The first cargo of nearly 11,000 gallons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was loaded at the new Eagle LNG Partners liquefaction facility located near Jacksonville, Fla. Crowley Maritime Corporation’s LNG group loaded the cargo into an ISO tank container and delivered it over the road to the Port of Jacksonville for ocean transport to support customers in Puerto Rico. “With the successful LNG tank container loading at the Eagle LNG Partners’ Maxville Facility, Crowley can offer even more flexible services and sourcing locations to supply customers with LNG as a cleaner, safer fuel source.

VT Halter Marine has launched the second of Crowley Maritime Corp.’s new Commitment Class ships, Taíno, one of the world’s first combination container/roll on-roll off (ConRo) vessels powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Taíno will now proceed through the final topside construction and testing phase at the shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss., before beginning service in the U.S. Jones Act trade in 2018. She will join sister ship, El Coquí, which was launched earlier this year and is now in final testing prior to entering service in early 2018.

ExxonMobil Joins with Eagle LNG, Crowley on LNG Marine Fueling

ExxonMobil, Eagle LNG Partners LLC (Eagle LNG Partners) and Crowley have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of LNG as a marine fuel. The goal is to establish the storage and technical support necessary to provide safe, reliable LNG delivery for vessel operators bunkering in North America. The three companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 27, 2017. The parties will initially focus their efforts in Florida before expanding to other North American markets. ExxonMobil will provide its technical support and expertise to help the parties carry out safe bunkering operations and sell LNG bunker fuel to vessel operators.

LNG Sector Ready to meet Industry Demand

Ahead of the 70th Session of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the cross-industry coalition 'SEA\LNG' has highlighted the ability of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector to meet the future emissions requirements of the global shipping industry. The recently formed coalition has issued a position statement which outlines the benefits of LNG as a marine fuel and offers its support for the implementation of MARPOL Annex VI for the prevention of air pollution by ships. SEA\LNG Chairman, Peter Keller said, “Independent of the timing of the IMO’s implementation of the 0.5% global sulphur cap, today LNG is already a clean, safe, practical and economically viable fuel for the shipping industry.

Eagle LNG Seeks Greenlight for LNG Exports

Eagle LNG Partners has submitted an application with the US Department of Energy (DOE) requesting long-term, multi-contract authorization under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to engage in exports of natural gas in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The application seeks authorization to export up to 49.8 Bcf, or ~1.0 million tons per annum (mtpa), of LNG per year to both free trade agreement (FTA) and non-free trade agreement (non - FTA) countries. The authorization is for Eagle LNG Partners’ proposed FERC-jurisdictional LNG export facility in Jacksonville, Florida, and requests authorization from the DOE to export LNG on its own behalf and as an agent for other organizations.

Crowley Selects Fuel Supplier for LNG Containerships

Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. has selected Eagle LNG Partners as the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-supplier for the company’s new LNG-powered, Commitment Class ships, which will be delivered in 2017 for use in the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico trade. To support Crowley’s LNG needs, Eagle LNG will build a natural gas liquefaction plant (LNG plant) offering a capacity of 200,000 gallons per day (87,000 gallons per day initially) in Jacksonville. The state-of-the-art facility is slated to be operational by early 2017.

Proposed Terminal to Bring LNG to Florida

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced that it has placed a purchase contract on property where it hopes to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel terminal in Jacksonville, Fla. This would be the first LNG facility on the Eastern seaboard to specifically supply LNG for the maritime, heavy-duty trucking and rail industries. A partnership including Calgary-based Ferus Natural Gas Fuels has unveilled plans to build in Florida the first U.S. terminal to supply liquefied natural gas as fuel for cargo ships, reports 'The Calgary Herald'.
