3sun CEO Chairs Offshore Wind SIG

3sun Group, specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, is reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the offshore wind industry with CEO Graham Hacon chairing a new special interest group. The Offshore Wind Supply Chain Special Interest Group (SIG) has been initiated by local trade organisation EEEGR (The East of England Energy Group) with the aim of addressing industry issues head on and encouraging local companies to work together. Shipbuilder CTruk Awarded Round 6 RGF Grant

Essex-based shipbuilder CTruk received a £1 million ($1.5 million) grant for the construction of an Advanced Composite Technology Centre from the UK Government's Regional Growth Fund, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced today. The funding from the successful Round 6 bid will catalyze £7.3 million ($11.2 million) in private investment for the facility, which will allow the company to build workboats for offshore wind farm operations, CTruk announced in a press release.

James Fisher Opens Offshore Vessel for Tours

James Fisher Marine Services Ltd (JFMS), and Fendercare Marine, both subsidiaries of James Fisher and Sons plc (JFS), held an open day to demonstrate the capability of their shoreside support base and the offshore support vessel, the Dart Fisher. The Dart Fisher, which was berthed in the Fendercare Marine base in Great Yarmouth, is a 26-meter catamaran specifically designed to service the offshore energy industry with the capability to transfer up to 12 engineers, three 20-foot containers with a total combined cargo weight of 30 metric tons.

Northern Irish Wind Energy Delegation

CWind hosted a delegation of 20 businesses from the south east region of Northern Ireland on Tuesday this week. The delegation, led by Energy Connections NI and hosted by the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) was in the area this week to see first-hand how businesses here have taken advantage of the supply chain opportunities on offer and exchange thoughts on the renewable energy sector with East of England experts. CWind shared insights into its own experience of growing a business in the offshore wind supply chain with the delegation over coffee and tea at the Brightlingsea Yacht Club.
