Soget Appoints Herve Cornede as Executive Director

The leading Port Community System operator in France SOGET appointed Hervé Cornède as the Executive Director of the company. Hervé Cornède was appointed as the Commercial Director of the port of Le Havre in September 2009 and then Commercial and Marketing Director for HAROPA, when the EIG (Economic interest group) was created on January 1st, 2013. He worked for the first-rank positioning of the shipping offering of HAROPA ports, for the development of their terminals and the attractiveness of their logistics zones, thus allowing the ports of the river Seine to pass the historic mark of the 3 million TEU. Damen to Convert Dredger to Dual-fuel LNG/MGO

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has been awarded a contract to undertake the conversion of a dredger to dual-fuel capability combining LNG and MGO – a first of its kind project in Europe. The contract was awarded by Rouen-based GIE Dragages-Ports with regard to its 117m, 8500m³ trailing suction hopper dredger Samuel de Champlain, and the works will take place next year at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque. The conversion is part of an EU-supported initiative to promote LNG propulsion in short-sea vessels operating along the European Atlantic coast.

Antonini Re-Elected To Top Spot Of European Consortium

Corrado Antonini, executive chairman of Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, has been re-appointed to the presidency of the Euroyards consortium for the next two years, Fincantieri said on Wednesday. Euroyards brings together the main shipbuilding industries of France, Germany, Spain and Italy in a European Economic Interest Group (EEIG). The consortium was set up in the early 1990s mainly to meet growing competition from the Far East. It is active in the development of joint programs in the fields of research, new projects and purchasing in common. Effective January 1, 2001, Antonini will also take on the presidency for the next two years of EDIG, the European Defense Industries Group.
