Wagenborg Installs Shore Power Connection on Kroonborg Vessel

Wagenborg Offshore has installed and commissioned a shore connection system on the Kroonborg walk-to-work (W2W) vessel in collaboration with NAM/Shell UK, and the support of Dutch province of North Holland.The shore power system was developed and engineered by Dutch company Eekels Technology.Additionally, Eekels Technology, in partnership with the Port of Den Helder, is advancing a hydrogen shore power generator project in cooperation with the Port of Harlingen and Groningen Seaports.The hydrogen generator is set to become operational by the end of 2023.

HNLSM Snellius Modernization Complete, Ship Returns to RNLN

Team AkzoNobel Completes Volvo Ocean Race

Recently, team AkzoNobel completed its first Volvo Ocean Race, concluding the final leg in second place and finishing fourth overall. The team finished on the podium on six of the eleven legs.During the race, the team was supported by two Damen Workshop Containers. The two containers leapfrogged each other across the 11-legs and 83,000 km of the round-the-world race, ensuring that team AkzoNobel had onshore support every step of the way.The provision of workshop containers was a natural way for Damen to offer support to the team. European Commission Signs Grant Agreement: Official Start of NAVAIS

With the signature of INEA (Innovation & Networks Executive Agency of the European Commission) on the Grant Agreement of NAVAIS, the project officially started on June, 1 2018. NAVAIS is a multiannual research- and innovation program for the shipbuilding industry. The results of NAVAIS will increase efficiency in design and flexibility in production networks. In total, the European Commission will invest € 6.5 million Euros ($7.5 mln) over a period of four years, by means of the Horizon 2020 program, the research- and innovation program of the European Commission.

Brom Named CEO at Alphatron Marine

Bart Brom will take over as the next CEO of Alphatron Marine Group in Rotterdam, succeeding the company’s co-founder Luuk Vroombout at the start of 2018. After completing his studies in electrical engineering, Brom served in various management and executive positions at maritime electrical engineering companies such as Alewijnse, Bakker Sliedrecht and most recently Eekels Technology, where he is currently director and business unit manager for marine and offshore in Kolham. AlphaBridge Consoles Delivered to Egbert Wagenborg

Alphatron Marine has announced to have delivered a state-of-the-art premium design AlphaBridge to the vessel Egbert Wagenborg, a modern, multi-purpose open-top ice strengthened vessel, named after the company’s founder. The ergonomically designed AlphaBridge with four 46-inch wide screens include remote support and an onboard information system. The Egbert Wagenborg navigation system contributes of a new level of onboard safety with JRC’s latest multi-function radar, ECDIS and conning which is operated on four large phenomenally bright displays that can be seen from nearly every angle.

In-hull Dual Fuel Engine Conversion an Industry First

To convert its vessel Coral Anthelia to dual fuel operation, Anthony Veder worked with Cat dealer Bolier to complete the industry’s first in-hull retrofit – saving considerable time and money in the process. The project saw the retrofit of a marine diesel engine to dual fuel operation in the hull of a ship without altering the vessel’s structure, limiting any onboard operations or requiring the ship to dock. Gas shipping company Anthony Veder partnered with a team of Dutch partners, including Cat dealer Bolier, to accomplish this industry-first feat – all within less than five weeks.

Denmark's Eekels Wins Slow Steaming Technology Prize

Eekels informs it has been awarded the TBI Innovation Prize 2013 for its “Slow Steaming” entry. The vote was taken at the TBI TOP250 and no less than 66% of those present voted for Eekels’ ingenious technical innovation. Eekels was one of the 3 nominees that had been chosen from 34 entries by a jury chaired by Maxime Verhagen (chairman of Bouwend Nederland, the Dutch Construction and Infrastructure Federation). Eekels explains that due to the economic downturn, the freight rates in the shipping industry have been under pressure.

Damen PSV 3300: A Diamond in the Rough

The platform supply vessel World Diamond was delivered by Damen Shipyards, Galati, on June 28, 2013, to World Wide Supply. The PSV was built to a completely new and distinctive design from Damen, and World Diamond is the first of six PSVs for the Norwegian owner. The vessel is capable of worldwide operations and its construction involved close cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands, which provided engineering and main equipment. First PSV 3300 for WWS launched

On January 18th, 2013, Damen Shipyards GalaĹŁi (Romenia) has launched the World Diamond, the first of a series of six fully equipped Platform Supply Vessels for Norwegian offshore company World Wide Supply. The PSV 3300 series is part of Damen´s newly designed range of platform suppliers. Like the other five ships, The World Diamond is built and completed in Galati in cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem (The Netherlands) which provides the design, engineering and main equipment.
