Eco Marine Power Inks Deal on Joint Eco Ship Study

A "major shipping company" based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Eco Marine Power Co., Ltd. (EMP) of Japan have agreed to undertake a joint Eco Ship technical study related to renewable energy solutions for ships including Aquarius Marine Solar Power, EnergySail and Aquarius MRE, according to EMP. RFQ for Developing Container Terminal at Panama Canal

The Panama Canal Authority has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for companies interesting in competing to design, develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain the Corozal Container Terminal. This follows the expression of interested by 13 of the world’s largest port operators in developing and operating the port. The Corozal Container Terminal will be located at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, and is intended to be a common user container transshipment terminal to distribute cargo the region, including the west coast of South America, Central America and the Caribbean. It will provide services to reposition empty containers and handle local cargo, and is the first of several planned projects to enhance Panama’s logistics capacity.

Wahoo Goes Digital with Raymarine

Wahoo RIBs has chosen Raymarine to supply a complete navigation and control system for its luxurious new flagship, the Wahoo LX600. Based on a race-winning design from the great naval architect Lorne Campbell, the LX is described as the ultimate grand tourer of the oceans; capable of carrying 12 people at speeds of up to 60 knots. Launched at Cannes and Monaco, the LX600 sleek new design is an exercise in minimalism; the carbon console carries two Raymarine e-Series MFDs (multi-function displays) that provide touch screen navigation, engine instrumentation, and audio entertainment controls.

ABB Launch Tropos 1410-HAZ Communication Equipment

ABB announce the Tropos 1410-HAZ wireless mesh router and wireless bridge, certified for use in hazardous environments. Tropos 1410 wireless mesh routers and wireless bridges create secure, IP-based field area communication networks serving thousands of automation endpoints such as intelligent electrical devices, industrial process controllers and SCADA devices. Designed to provide wireless communications for field automation applications, the Tropos 1410-HAZ is certified for use in Class I, Division 2 (US) and Class I, Zone 2 (US and Canada) hazardous locations. The certification allows, amongst others, the Tropos® 1410-HAZ to be deployed in locations such as the wellheads of oil and gas wells, oil and natural gas storage and processing facilities.

CG Opens Renewable Energy Center

The U.S. Coast Guard is scheduled to open its first Landfill Gas Renewable Energy Center on April 22, at the Coast Guard Yard, 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, Md., as part of its Earth Day Celebration. "As America's Maritime Guardians, not only do we protect the environment through our operations, but we strive to protect the environment in the way we carry out our missions as an organization and as individuals," said Rear Adm. Thomas P. Ostebo, the Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant for Engineering and Logistics and Environmental Executive. The Coast Guard is seeking to improve the environment by reducing its environmental footprint. Ten years ago the Coast Guard's environmental policies were focused on basic compliance and restoration.
