Engineers to Meet to Discuss Electric Installations on Ships
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is updating the IEEE 45 standard for electrical installations on ships. This is a big undertaking because so much has changed with new power systems on ships, from the cruise industry to integrated electric propulsion systems on warships. âWith new voltages, power distribution systems and casualty power arrangements, the standard really needs a refresh,â says Moni Islam, an electrical engineer who is chairing the IEEE committee reviewing and revising the standard. ORBIT Communications Sytems Appoints Rizzo
ORBIT Communication Systems, Ltd., a subsidiary of Orbit Technologies Ltd. (TASE:ORBI), today announced that it has recruited Dr. Carlo Rizzo to head its Telemetry and Earth Observation business operations in Europe. A seasoned industry expert, Dr. Rizzo has over 15 years' experience in the sales of consultative system solutions. Most recently, he served as Director of European Operations for a major U.S.-based Antenna Measurement System supplier. Previously, Dr. Rizzo was UK Operations Manager for ORBIT/FR, a former subsidiary of ORBIT Communication Systems Ltd. He is also a member of the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology), the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA).
