V olunteers, disaster management officials and aid workers conducted mock evacuation drills in hundreds of villages along India's east coast on Friday as a powerful cyclone approached, threatening devastation to farmland and fishing hamlets. Cyclone Hudhud was about 470 km (292 miles) offshore on Friday, satellite images showed, and was expected to hit land around the key port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning. It will also impact neighbouring Odisha state. The cyclone, forecast to bring gusts of up to 155 kph (96 mph), could disrupt the lives of millions, the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) run by the United Nations and the European Commission said. "Up to 7.2 million people can be affected by wind speeds of cyclone strength or above.

A Jack-up Drilling Rig which was constructed by CIMC Raffles with Sinopec Independent design named “New Sheng Li 1#” was delivered to Sinopec Sheng Li Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. at CIMC Raffles on 6th June 2014. This was the 7th Jack-up drilling rigs that CIMC Raffles has delivered. It will be towed to Bohai Bay providing drilling service to Sinopec Sheng Li Oilfield soon. CCS and CIMC Raffles top  leaders attended the delivery ceremony. “New Sheng Li 1#” was the first new-build offshore drilling rig since Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation was founded in 2012. The basic design and detail design was done by Sheng Li Drilling Technology Research Institute, the shop design and construction design was completed by CIMC Raffles. (TSi), a provider of SAR satellite ground stations, integrated emergency response center systems and coastal surveillance solutions. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The first phases of a USCG final rule implementing measures for maintaining or regaining control of a tank barge that will reduce the likelihood of a tank barge's grounding and spilling its cargo are effective June 19, 2000. These measures are necessary, according to USCG because without them a tug that loses its tow lacks ready means for regaining control of it. Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has been contracted to provide its AutoChief Propulsion Control system for 22 ships currently in production in China and Korea. The orders, worth NOK 7.5m were all taken in November and are further evidence of the massive inroads that KMSS has made into the eastern marine markets throughout 2002. "Since we announced our new focussed direction at SMM this year, KMSS has become firmly established in both the Korean and Chinese shipbuilding markets," said Lars Gorvell-Dahl, President of KMSS. "The latest AutoChief orders mark an excellent period for KMSS and it's subsidiaries in the East," he added.
