Honeywell Completes Acquisition of EMS Technologies

Honeywell has completed its acquisition of EMS Technologies, Inc., for approximately $491 million. EMS is a leading provider of connectivity solutions for mobile networking, rugged mobile computers and satellite communications. The acquisition will enhance Honeywell’s existing capabilities in rugged mobile computing technologies within its Automation and Control Solutions business (ACS) and satellite communications within its Aerospace business. EMS’s Global Resource Management (GRM) division provides highly ruggedized mobile computing products and services for use in transportation, logistics, and workforce management settings as well as secure satellite-based asset tracking and messaging technology for search and rescue, warehousing, and field force automation environments.

GeoEye to Market Osprey Personal Tracker Solution

EMS Global Tracking, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELMG), announced that GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), a provider of satellite and aerialbased geospatial information and services, will add the EMS Osprey personal tracker solution as a custom two-way tracking and messaging solution to the suite of solutions under their Marine Services business. EMS will serve as GeoEye’s exclusive partner for its Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) solution to the commercial fishing fleet market. EMS will deliver 1,000 Osprey trackers over the next year, with initial units shipping immediately. GeoEye will brand EMS’s Osprey tracker as part of the VMS and small vessel security solution within its Marine Services business.

Wireless boat security system supplier Paradox Marine has collaborated with EMS Satamatics, a provider of telematics, asset tracking and monitoring services, to launch their new web site Nav-Tracker.com (www.Nav-Tracker.com). The web site, hosted by EMS Satamatics, allows users of Paradox Marine Nav-Tracker GPS Tracking, Security & Monitoring Systems to manage their onboard systems remotely via the World Wide Web and track their vessel over an advanced Google Earth interface. EMS Satcom, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc., announced its sponsorship of Spirit of Canada Ocean Challenges and skipper Derek Hatfield as he sets his sights to win the 2006 5-Oceans global sailboat race. Transport Canada Selects EMS Satcom

EMS Satcom, a division of EMSTechnologies, Inc. reported that Transport Canada has selected the EMS SATCOM eNfusion Broadband high-speed data system to enhance marine pollution surveillance and detection on Transport Canada's National Aerial Surveillance Program (NASP) Dash 8 aircraft. Flight Acceptance Tests were completed in early November 2006. EMS SATCOM's eNfusion system was installed and integrated with the Swedish Space Corporation's (SSC) Maritime Surveillance System (MSS 6000) to allow for real-time transmission and replay of data. The advantage is that evidence captured during the pollution patrol can be directly transmitted from the aircraft to command centers or marine safety inspectors in real-time…

Coast Guard Evaluates Fleet55

Inmarsat’s new Fleet F55 service is undergoing evaluation with the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Shearwater. The evaluation follows extensive beta testing and successful launch of the Fleet F55 service in April 2003, and forms part of the company ' s 2003 Maritime Field Evaluations (MFEs) program for the service. As part of the evaluation with the U.S. Coast Guard, an EMS Technologies Fleet F55 terminal has been installed on the USCG Shearwater, an 87-foot Island Class coastal patrol vessel based out of Portsmouth, Virginia, USA. Advances in communication services for ships and boats is expanding rapidly, keeping pace with development cycles of landside installations. Following a rigorous program of beta testing and evaluation on a number of vessels from various market segments, EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc., has received full Inmarsat type approval for its new Fleet 55 Maritime satellite terminal. The Fleet 55 terminal provides global voice services, as well as 64kbits/s Mobile ISDN (including G-3 fax at 14.4kbps, or full-blown G-4 fax) and Mobile Packet Data. It supports a comprehensive selection of interfaces, including ISDN, X.21, RS449, RS232, and two RJ11 ports, as well as optional STUIIB/III service for reliable secure communications.
