Flex LNG Tanker Wins Endesa Charter
Norway-based shipowner Flex LNG announced that it has entered into a new time charter with the Spanish utility Endesa for the vessel Flex Ranger.Endesa is a leading company in the Spanish electricity sector and the second largest operator in the Portuguese market as well as a subsidiary of Enel Group.The firm period under the new time charter is 12 months and will commence in direct continuation of an existing time charter with Enel which expires on or about June 2020, said a press release from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation company.Endesa will also have the option to extend the time charter by an additional 12 months subsequent to the firm period maturing on or about June 2021.Øystein M.
GasLog Adds New LNGC from SHI
Monaco-based shipowner GasLog has taken delivery of the 180,000-m3 GasLog Warsaw liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) from South Koreaās Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) on July 31.GasLog Warsaw is the first 180,000 cbm LNG tanker delivered to the company by SHI. The shipbuilder has a further seven units for GasLog on order.GasLog Warsaw is a 180,000 cubic meter (cbm) Mark III Flex Plus carrier with low pressure dual fuel two-stroke (X-DF) propulsion.The vessel was immediately delivered into a new charter with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cheniere Energy for the period prior to the commencement of her long-term charter with a subsidiary of Endesa in May 2021.On June 25, 2019, GasLog entered into a loan agreement with ABN AMRO BANK N.V.
GasLog in LNG Charter Deal with JERA
Monaco-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipper GasLog has agreed a 12-year charter contract with worldās largest LNG buyer, Japanās JERA.The LNG vessel owner said in a press release that the charter party agreement was signed with LNG Marine Transport Limited (LMT), the principal LNG shipping entity of JERA, for its existing uncommitted newbuild vessel, HN 2274. GasLog Warsaw Secures Charter with Endesa
Monaco-based liqueļ¬ed natural gas (LNG) shipper GasLog Ltd signed a new long-term charter deal with a unit of the Spanish utility company Endesa for its newbuild vessel, the GasLog Warsaw.The International owner and operator of LNG carriers said that it is scheduled to take delivery of the 180,000 cubic meter Mark III Flex Plus vessel with low pressure two stroke propulsion (LP-2S) from Samsung Heavy Industries in July 2019. Cheniere Mulls Third Liquefaction Train at Corpus Christi
U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Cheniere Energy Inc said it planned to make a final investment decision to build the third liquefaction train at its Corpus Christi LNG export facility in Texas in the first half of 2018:Cheniere said on Friday its Cheniere Corpus Christi Holdings LLC subsidiary engaged financial institutions to arrange up to $6.4 billion of credit facilities. Chile is first South American Country to Tax Carbon
President Michelle Bachelet of Chile enacted new environmental tax legislation on Friday making the country the first in South America to tax carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Part of a broad tax reform, Chile's carbon tax will target the power sector, particularly generators operating thermal plants with installed capacity equal or larger than 50 megawatts (MW). These installations will be charged $5 per tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2) released. Thermal plants fueled by biomass and smaller installations will be exempt. The new tax is meant to force power producers to gradually move to cleaner sources to help reduce the country's greenhouse gas emissions and meet its voluntary target of cutting these gases 20 percent from 2007 levels by 2020.
Chilean Electricity Megaproject Can get Reformulated under New Norms

GasAtacama has US LNG Providers Lined Up
GasAtacama, energy provider to metal producers in Chile's Atacama desert, has lined up eight potential U.S. natural gas suppliers for a proposed import terminal on its Pacific Coast, but uncertainty about energy demand has delayed deals, CEO Rudolf Araneda told Reuters on Thursday. GasAtacama plans to build a $350 million offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal that would take shipments of the fuel to help create 500 megawatts of electricity for power-hungry miners in the mineral-rich north.
ABB's Part in Great Mediterranean Gas Project
ABB has supplied a uniquely integrative multisystem automation solution for the new Medgaz gas pipeline that connects North Africaās largest gas producer with the gas transmission networks of Europe. The 210 kilometer pipeline connects the gas fields of Algeria, the regionās largest gas producer, with the gas transmission networks of Spain and southwestern Europe. It delivers up to 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year, and will in time be expanded with a second pipeline to double transmission capacity to 16 billion cubic meters a year.
First Q-flex LNG Carrier Berths at Barcelona, Spain
RasGas of Qatar announced that it achieved yet another successful milestone when the first Q-Flex vessel delivered Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at the Barcelona LNG receiving terminal, Spain. It is not only the first RasGas Q-Flex vessel to discharge LNG at the Barcelona LNG receiving terminal but, it is also the largest the terminal ever received. The LNG cargo was delivered aboard RasGasĀ long-term chartered Q-Flex vessel the Al-Utouriya. The cargo is part of RasGasā long-term LNG Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Endesa Generación, S.A.
New General Director for MAN B&W
On June 1, Federico Syassen was appointed managing director of the Madrid office of MAN B&W Diesel. His responsibility has been extended to cover the two-stroke sector, after Sven Christensen, who was previously responsible for this sector, left the company. Carlos Keller has taken over responsibility for PrimeServ Spainās after-sales activities. Federico Syassen has been with MAN B&W Diesel for 10 years, the last six of which he has spent in the sales force for stationary works. His biggest projects during this time have included the sale of more than twenty V48/60 engines for power plants to the Spanish ENDESA Group for the Canaries and Balearic islands as well as for the Spanish enclave of Ceuta / Melilla.
Qatarās LNG Exports to Reach 78 Million Tons
Qatarās total LNG exports will reach about 78.1 million tons per year by 2011 if the eight heads of agreements (HoAs) are turned into sale and purchase agreements (SPAs), says a recent Gulf Times report. The SPAs Qatargas and RasGas signed with buyers worldwide would peak in 2011 with exports totaling 34.5 million tons annually. Additionally, the eight HOAs signed by Qatargas and RasGas could push the exports by another 43.6 million ton by 2011, according to the report. The SPAs are with Kogas (South Korea), Petronet (India), Edison Gas (Italy), Gas Natural (Spain) BP and Endesa Generacion (Spain).
