Key figures from Maersk Group, Statoil and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development have signed up to discuss future ocean business opportunities, demands and strategies at Opening Oceans Conference 2018 (OOC). The event, Nor-Shipping’s first outside its Norwegian home, will see c-level executives gather in Copenhagen on May 2nd and 3rd  to examine how to responsibly realise the huge potential of the ocean, gaining the understanding, partners and tools to equip businesses for the way ahead.

Beier Radio, LLC says that with Sentinel Controls it has relocated operations to a new facility in Gray, Louisiana, along the bustling Central Gulf coast near Houma. In addition, Beier Radio’s corporate office for administration and sales has moved from Belle Chasse to Mandeville, Louisiana, north of New Orleans. The move consolidates Beier Radio’s engineering, service, parts, and training departments, and Sentinel’s manufacturing operations at the new Gray campus, putting the companies in closer proximity to Port Fourchon, the intermodal port of choice for much of the Central Gulf energy activity. The new facility is located along U.S. Highway 90, providing both Beier Radio and Sentinel with more efficient access to their marine clients for equipment design, installation and service.

Representatives of Mammoet and other Dutch companies visited Tanzania to explore potential construction projects and investment opportunities in the East African country which has impressive growth rates and large stocks of underseas gas it is looking to develop. Tanzania is shaping up to be a big opportunity for Dutch companies that are active in energy, infrastructure and transport. Mammoet, Shell, Boskalis, Heerema and Van Oord traveled along with a trade mission led by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lilianne Ploumen (PvdA).

A tumultuous three years for the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, starting with the disastrous Macondo Oil Spill in April of 2010, has come full circle, arriving at a buoyant period for Gulf Cost boat builders, oil & gas developers and the maritime professionals who make it all happen. 3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, announced the opening of its first office in Denmark, as part of the Group’s international growth plans. The new office in Esbjerg, Denmark will support 3sun Group’s increased presence in region, allowing the Group to offer its range of products and services to a wider market and range of companies operating within the area. Tenna Larsen has been appointed as office manager and will head up the new office in the Vestkraftkaj area of Esbjerg.

Gas production in Russia could pave the way for successful arctic drilling projects after new techniques helped improve efficiency during the region’s harsh winters. The creation of Russia’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant has meant overcoming a number of obstacles similar to those faced within the Arctic region – an increasingly attractive prospect as proven oil and gas reserves decline. The success of the programme – which has seen the use of “big bore wells” cutting operating costs and increasing gas flow – is an example of how viable working in such harsh conditions can be.
