Great Lakes Bags $173.7 Million in New Dredging Contracts

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation on Thursday announced the receipt of five dredging contracts totaling $173.7 million. US October LNG Exports Climb to Second Highest Level on Record

U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) producers ramped up exports in October, to 7.92 million metric tons, according to data provider LSEG, the second-highest monthly level on record.Exports were just shy of the record 8.01 million metric tons in April this year, and were up from 7.12 million metric tons in September, when plant maintenance reduced U.S. production.The U.S. was the world's largest exporter of LNG in the first half of this year, according to the Energy Information Agency, ahead of Qatar and Australia.

MOL Embarks on Low-Pressure CO2 Research Program

Future Energy Exports CRC, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation, Low Emission Technology Australia, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Osaka Gas have executed a project agreement for the "LP Technology R&D Project" to conduct research and development to demonstrate the technical feasibility and operability of low-pressure and low temperature solutions for the bulk transport of CO2 by ships.The LP Technology R&D Project will involve studying behaviour and boil off characteristics of liquid CO2 under dynamic operating conditions and the impact of non-CO2 components.

The Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project was included in President Joe Biden’s proposed Fiscal Year 2023 Budget released Monday under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Coastal Navigation Construction category. On March 3, the Coast Guard published a notice that Martin Midstream Partners (MMP), a petrochemical transport and storage company, was seeking approval to modify terminal operations in Beaumont, Texas, along the Sabine-Neches Waterway. If approved, MMP would expand its liquefied hazardous gas (LHG) operations, both in volume and products. Instead of just handling ammonia the change would allow shipments of butane, propane, ethane, ethylene and propylene.Critically, MMP’s expansion would increase LHG vessel transit from 24 ships to as many as 350 per year.

BIMCO: US-China “Phase One” Fails to Boost Trade Volumes

HHI Bags $390mln Order for 2 LNG Carriers

South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) said  it received an order to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for an unidentified European shipping company.Yonhap news agency quoted the shipbuilder saying that the order is valued at 463 billion South Korean won ($390 million), bringing its total number of orders to five so far this year.The 180,000 cbm vessels, ordered by an undisclosed European owner, are scheduled for delivery by the end of June 2022.According to the report, the vessels will be equipped with Mark III Flex Plus technology that has a vaporization rate of 0.07 percent, reducing the daily evaporation of fuels.

U.S. Energy Hits Records in 2018: EIA

U.S. energy consumption, production, and exports have reached record highs in 2018, said U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).The United States produced a record amount of energy from various sources in 2018, reaching 96 quadrillion British thermal units (quads), an 8% increase from 2017. This increase in production outpaced the 4% increase in U.S. energy consumption, which also reached a record high of 101 quads.At the same time, U.S. energy exports increased 18% to a record high of 21 quads in 2018, reducing net energy imports into the United States to a 54-year low of 4 quads, or less than 4% of U.S. energy consumption.In 2018, crude oil and natural gas accounted for 57% of all U.S.
