Rolls-Royce Opens Ship Intelligence Center

The first of Rolls-Royce’ series of ship intelligence experience spaces has opened to show customers, suppliers and partners how the latest digital solutions can transform the marine industry. Opened in Ålesund, Norway, the Intelligent Asset Management (IAM) experience space sets out to demonstrate how ship intelligence systems can harness the “power of data” to optimize fleet operations, reduce operating costs and improve maintenance procedures, Rolls-Royce said. Merchant Bank Invests in New BWTS Project

Capital Corp Merchant Banking, a U.S.-based merchant banking group, say they have been working on an environmentally friendly ballast water treatment system (BWTS) project with a client and have entered into USD $41-million funding agreement with them. This patent-pending project makes better, more energy-efficient use of existing ballast water treatment technologies, resulting in a smaller energy footprint of the system and decreasing the ship's power-capacity needs. Asset integrity and initiatives to tackle skills shortages are among the subjects to be discussed when Aberdeen City and Shire’s leading renewable energy industry body hosts a business seminar in Aberdeen today (Tuesday, October 18).
