ClassNK Grants AIP for GTT's LH2 Carrier Cargo Systems

ClassNK has issued an approval in principle (AIP) for a cargo containment system (CCS) and cargo handling system (CHS) for liquefied hydrogen carrier developed by GTT.Hydrogen is expected to be used as a source of clean energy for decarbonization since it does not emit CO2 when combusted. Lhyfe Launches World First Offshore Hydrogen Pilot

France-based clean hydrogen producer Lhyfe has launched the world’s first offshore renewable green hydrogen production demonstrator.The pilot was launched yesterday (September 22) in Saint-Nazaire, France, which will now begin an 18-month wind-powered pilot, as part its drive towards large-scale carbon reduction.It involves Lhyfe's new Sealhyfe 400 kg/day (1MW equivalent) green hydrogen producing electrolyser platform, which has been installed on the WAVEGEM wave energy platform developed by Geps Techno.

Petronas Says Delivers Maiden Carbon Neutral LNG Cargo

Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas said Wednesday it had delivered its first carbon neutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to Shikoku Electric.The cargo was delivered from the Petronas LNG Complex (PLC) in Bintulu and was received Tuesday at the Sakaide LNG terminal in Shikoku Island, Japan.Petronas said it had offset the estimated life cycle carbon footprint of the LNG cargo through renewables-based carbon credits for the emissions generated from upstream gas exploration and production…

Top Global Traders Push to Cut Shipping Emissions

PSA Marine Expands into Middle East

PSA Marine Qalhat SAOC (PSAMQ), a joint venture company formed between PSA Marine (Pte) Ltd (PSA Marine) and Golden Dunes International LLC (GDI), will commence towage operations for Oman LNG LLC (OLNG) in Sur, Oman on 11 January 2015. The contract will be for a period of 10 years. OLNG, a joint venture between the Omani Government (51%), Shell (30%) and other notable global energy players, is currently Oman’s only exporter of liquefied natural gas. GDF Suez Ships First LNG Delivery to Dubai

GDF Suez has delivered its first cargo in the LNG carrier 'BW GDF Suez Boston' to the Dubai Supply Authority's Jebel Ali Terminal . According to the compamy GDF SUEZ has enlarged its footprint in the Middle East as a major global LNG supplier with the delivery of its first LNG cargo to Dubai. The BW GDF Suez Boston unloaded its 138,000 cu.m capacity cargo to the United Arab Emirates’ sole LNG import terminal, offshore Dubai. Between 2010 and 2016, GDF Suez says it is planning to deliver about 10.8 million tons of LNG to major energy players in Asia (KOGAS, CNOOC, Petronas, Petronet, PTT and GAIL). GDF Suez is one of the few European utilities with the flexibility in its natural gas portfolio to direct volumes to these markets.

Grassy Point Favoured as NW Canada LNG Terminal

Grassy Point terminal project, north of Prince Rupert, gains ground as it would steer shipping traffic away from sheltered coastal waters. The Coast Tsimshian village of Lax Kw'alaams north of Prince Rupert could be poised to become a liquefied natural gas centre with significant advantages over Prince Rupert and Kitimat after the province announced it has received four new LNG proposals. All four identify Grassy Point, across the harbour from Lax Kw'alaams, formerly Port Simpson, as the potential site for a terminal, reports 'The Vancouver Sun'. The Coast Tsimshian are already involved in talks with the energy players in the nascent LNG industry in the northwest and are generally supportive of it.

Offshore Marine Services GmbH Appoints Rhenus

Offshore Marine Services GmbH (OMS) appointed Rhenus Midgard GmbH & Co. KG as its exclusive vessel agency in Germany. Bremen based OMS has signed an agreement with Rhenus to act as vessel agent to all vessels under OMS charter or contract operating in German waters and ports. It is a rolling contract with an initial 12-month period from January to December this year. OMS is part of Offshore Marine Management (OMM), a growing independent provider of managed marine solutions to the offshore renewables, subsea telecoms and oil and gas industries. Rhenus, one of Europe’s leading logistics service providers, was chosen by OMS to facilitate the company’s ongoing and future workload in German waters.
