Svitzer Targets Methanol-Fuelled MAN 175DF-M Engine

MAN Energy Solutions and Svitzer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on the development of a methanol-fuelled version of the MAN 175D engine. Designated 175DF-M (Dual Fuel-Methanol), the MoU targets the finalisation of a field-test agreement based on which a dual-fuel engine and plant equipment will be installed on board one of Svitzer’s newbuild tugs.Svitzer has a long-standing relationship with MAN Energy Solutions, especially recently with the MAN 175D engine.

MAN Energy Solutions has announced the production of a massive Cluster 5 Double Layer Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) converter to MITSUI E&S.The cluster comes ammonia-ready and is the largest such unit that the company has ever built.Such systems are typically used aboard cruise ships and cargo ships to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 90%.“As the very first SCR for an ammonia engine anywhere in the world, this is a historic moment. Yard Starts World’s First Container Vessel Methanol Dual Fuel Retrofit

Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard held a steel cutting ceremony on March 8, 2024 for the 14,000 TEU Maersk Halifax methanol dual fuel retrofit project, marking what will be the world's first container vessel methanol dual fuel retrofit.Representatives from Maersk project team, ABS, and headquarters leaders and employees of the company attended the ceremony.The vessel is scheduled to arrive in early July this year and will undergo conversion and repair for a period of about three months. To ensure the smooth implementation of the project, the yard has built a 500-ton gantry crane overhead the No.3 dock.

Adapted ME-GI Gas Engine Runs on Hydrogen

MOL Signs Long-Term Charter with Tokyo Gas for LNG Carrier Newbuilding

Mitsui O.S.K. MAN Expands Dual-fuel Methanol Agreement with CCS

MAN Energy Solutions and China Classification Society (CCS) signed a sub-agreement in line with the Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) the two parties previously agreed in September 2023 in Beijing. DNV Confirms Energy Efficiency Gains for LNG Carries with DFE+ Propulsion

MAN’s Most Powerful Medium-Speed Engine Chosen for TSHD

MAN Energy Solutions has won the contract from Royal Boskalis to supply 3 × MAN 49/60 engines for a 31,000 m³ Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD).Each engine will come accompanied by an exhaust-gas after-treatment system, namely an MAN Low-Pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction (LP-SCR) system, that ensures IMO Tier III compliance. NYK Orders Man Energy Engines for Four LNG Carriers

Japanese shipping giant NYK has ordered eight ME-GA engines from Man Energy Solutions for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.The order is for eight 5G70ME-GA Mk. 10.5 engines related to the construction of four 174,000 cbm.
