Eighth 24,188 TEU Ship Joins OOCL's Fleet

Hong Kong based ocean carrier Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of its eighth 24,188 TEU containership, OOCL Abu Dhabi.The vessel is the fourth in a series of six 24,188 TEU newbuilds to be delivered to OOCL by the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard in China. The ultra large containership is 400 meters long and 61.3 meters wide.OOCL Abu Dhabi was officially named during a ceremony at the shipyard on February 25.

24,188 TEU 'Mega Vessel' Delivered to OOCL

Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of another new 24,000 TEU mega vessel.Named OOCL Valencia during a ceremony at China's Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd., the newbuild is the seventh eco-friendly 24,188 TEU vessel in a series of 12 ordered by OOCL. ABS and Hanwha Ocean Partner on Digital Shipbuilding Technologies

Classification society ABS and shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean signed a strategic framework agreement to advance the digital transformation of shipbuilding.Under the agreement, ABS and Hanwha Ocean formerly known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., will work together conducting joint development projects aimed at examining digital technologies related to smart yards and smart ships with a focus on safety, cyber resilience, autonomous, remote-control and smart functions developed by Hanwha Ocean.

MOL and MOLMEC to Launch DP System Simulator Training Program for Offshore Wind Crews

Japanese companies Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and MOL Marine & Engineering Co. (MOLMEC) said Wednesday they would launch a training program using the Dynamic Positioning (DP) System simulator, targeting crewmembers of self-elevating platform (SEP) vessels and service operation vessels (SOVs), which will support offshore wind power generation projects. NORDEN Orders Six Supramax Bulkers

Danish shipowner NORDEN has recently placed a newbuilding order for six dry cargo vessels from Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. Auxiliary wind propulsion systems provider Norsepower announced a contract for the delivery and installation of two Norsepower Rotor Sails on a newbuild Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) for global shipping company IINO Lines.The new LPG dual fuel ship – delivered today from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd in Korea is ready to be equipped with two bespoke 20m tall Norsepower Rotor Sails side by side. Japan: MOL, MOLMEC to Launch More Offshore Wind Training Courses as ClassNK Approval Granted

S.Korea's Hanwha Group to Invest $1.4B for Daewoo Shipbuilding

South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd signed a tentative agreement on Monday for Hanwha Group to invest 2 trillion won ($1.4 billion) in return for a 49.3% stake and management rights in the shipbuilder, the companies and Daewoo's major stakeholder said. The agreement, signed with affiliates of Hanwha Group including Hanwha Aerospace, will only be valid if Hanwha is chosen after a period of being open to other bids, Daewoo said in a regulatory filing. State-run Korea Development Bank (KDB) owns a 55.7% stake in the shipbuilder.

Kongsberg Digital (KDI) has delivered a full mission K-Sim Dynamic Positioning (DP) Simulator to MOL Marine & Engineering (MOLMEC) for the new MOL Dynamic Positioning Training Centre (MOL DPTC) in Tokyo, Japan. KNOT's First LNG Dual Fuel Shuttle Tanker Delivered

A dual-fuel LNG (liquefied natural gas) shuttle tanker1 ordered by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS,2 which is an affiliate of NYK, was delivered on August 2 at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. The vessel has been named Frida Knutsen.The shuttle tanker will be chartered to ENI Trade & Biofuels S.p.A, a subsidiary of Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi S.p.A (ENI), 3 and will be engaged in oil transportation in the North Sea and Barents Sea.The vessel will be KNOT's first dual-fuel shuttle tanker that can use not only heavy fuel oil but also LNG.
