ABS Verifies Non-flammable Blue G Battery System Design

Classification society ABS announced it has issued New Technology Qualification (NTQ) for non-flammable battery technology for use at sea.Called Blue G, the vanadium redox flow battery system from Gennal Engineering PTE LTD is now planned to move into prototype testing later this year.The Blue G battery is comprised of a water-based electrolyte solution, storage tank, stack cell and regulating pump. JFD Wins Lifeboat Design Contract for Flash Tekk

JFD, part of James Fisher and Sons plc, announced that it has won a contract with Singaporean company Flash Tekk Engineering for the design and manufacture of up to eight Self-Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboats (SPHL). A development to improve operational safety standards, SPHLs are to be installed as part of the saturation diving systems on the new Red-Class fleet of Diving Support Vessels (DSV). The SPHLs are currently under construction for Flash Tekk’s parent company Ultra Deep Solutions, the builder and operator of ultra-deep diving heavy construction vessels.

AMI Group Adds IMS and IME

For over 12 years Island Marine Services Pte Ltd (IMS) and subsequently Island Marine Engineering Pte Ltd (IME) have maintained agencies with Sleipner (Side-Power Thrusters), Vestdavit and Headhunter and provided customers in the region and in Europe with naval architecture services and commercial ship servicing. The companies now bring their technical expertise and product range to the corporate portfolio of the AMI Group. The AMI Group has appointed Karl Nilssen, a proprietor of IMS and IME, as general manager of AMI Marine International, to be based out of Singapore.

WINS takes delivery of largest PSV, "WM Pacific"

Wintermar Offshore Marine (WINS) announced having taken delivery of "WM Pacific”, the Largest Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) flying the Indonesian flag. 'WM Pacific' is our 4th and largest Platform Supply Vessel. She will be the only Indonesian flagged PSV that is equipped with Firefighting capability certified to FIFI 2 standard. She is 83m long, equipped with DP2 (Dynamic Positioning) and classification ABS + A1 (E) Offshore Support Vessel notation. She is certified to participate in search and rescue operations and has oil recovery capability and capable to transport methanol. She has 1,000m2 of deck space and her cabins can accommodate up to 58 persons. 'WM Pacific' was built in China by POET Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd.

Offshore Carrier Design 7400 Launched by Damen

Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 7500 design introduced: a smaller heavy transport, offshore installation & ro-ro platform. Damen developed the new vessel in cooperation with Singapore based heavy lift transport specialist Hans van Mameren, managing director of Ha-Ce Engineering Pte Ltd.. The DOC has an endurance of 65 days, a large, flat and unobstructed deck of 2,300 m², a deck strength of 20 t/m² and is highly fuel-efficient. Jaya Holdings Limited (“Jaya”) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Jaya Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd has signed an agreement with IHC Merwede Asia Pacific which enables IHC’s high-specification offshore vessels to be produced by Jaya at its yards in Singapore and Batam, Indonesia. As part of the wide-ranging agreement, IHC Merwede will also provide design and engineering support services to Jaya. The agreement creates the opportunity for further collaboration between the companies in future, aligned with Jaya’s strategy of building sophisticated and modern offshore support vessels and IHC Merwede’s plans for further expansion of its integrated shipbuilding and equipment manufacturing operations in the region.

Jaya Secures Contracts of Approximately US$84 Million

Jaya Holdings Limited (“JAYA”) has announced that it has, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Jaya Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd, secured ship building contracts of approximately US$84 million to deliver a 5,150 bhp Anchor Handling Tug and Supply Vessel (“AHTSV”) and a 16,000 bhp AHTSV. The 16,000 bhp AHTSV, one of the largest vessels to be built by JAYA, is constructed and designed for offshore support and is capable of oil rig towing, oil rig positioning and anchor handling, offshore oilfield supply, stand by rescue, and iceberg towing/ice management. The state of the art vessel is Ice Class 1A; giving it the ability to navigate in moderate level ice conditions and northern regions.

Drydocks World Creditors Approve J/V Scheme

Background: On 27 June 2012, DDW announced that it had entered into a joint venture agreement with Pacific Carriers Limited ("PCL"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kuok (Singapore) Limited. The SEA Group would, following completion of the transaction, be managed as a joint venture between DDW and PCL and would be called DDW-PaxOcean Asia. Pte Ltd. Completion of this transaction was conditional on, amongst other things, the Schemes being approved by the Creditors. Labroy Shipbuilding Purchases Autoship System

Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) has sold CAD/CAM software to Labroy Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd (Labroy) of Singapore. transformation. First, existing software will be upgraded to present versions, and another seat of each of Autoship Pro and Autostructure will be added. The sale will also augment Labroy's software suite with three seats of Production Manager (ASC's nesting and stock management program). Schottel Reports Successful Year

The propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL, with headquarters in Spay/Rhine, remains on course for success, rounding off the year 2004 with another sales record. The corporate goal of 100 million euro in group sales for the new building and service sectors was achieved (2003: 90 million euro). Exports accounted again for about 80 percent. Of particular significance are the latest worldwide sales successes in the areas of tug propulsion systems, offshore supply vessels and tankers, research vessels, ferries and military vessels. More and more SCHOTTEL propulsion and manoeuvring systems are also being successfully implemented in the megayacht sector. Also contributing to the good overall results is our Service department, with a large number of conversions and modernizations of existing systems.

Deep Sea Supply Takes Delivery of AHTS

Deep Sea announced that it took delivery of the AHTS-vessel Sea Jaguar from Jaya Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore. Twin screw Khiam Chuang design Anchor Handling Tug/Supply Vessel is outfitted and equipped for anchor handling, towing, fire fighting, dynamic positioning, rescue , offshore supply and other related duties. The Vessel will be classed as offshore support anchor handling supply vessel, fire fighting class 1, DPS-2, ACCU for Unrestricted Service. Twin maneuvering consoles are fitted in the wheelhouse stations, forward and aft. The Dynamic Positioning with joy-stick controls provided at the aft controls.

GulfMark Offshore Announces Vessel Sales, Delivery and Acquisition

GulfMark Offshore, Inc. today announced the completion of the sale of the Highland Patriot, the Highland Sentinel, the delivery of the newbuild Sea Sovereign, and the acquisition of an option vessel, Hull 861B. The Highland Patriot, a 1982 built 233 ft. platform supply vessel operating in Southeast Asia and the Highland Sentinel, a 1979 built 266 ft. platform supply vessel operating in the North Sea were sold in September and October, respectively. Both are expected to be converted for seismic work. The combined sales price of the two vessels was approximately $18 million resulting in a pre-tax gain of approximately $10 million, of which approximately $6.6 million will be recognized in the 3rd quarter and $3.4 million in the 4th quarter of 2006.

Labroy Marine Secures Contract

Labroy Marine Ltd. announced that the company's Singapore subsidiary Labroy Shipbuilding And Engineering Pte Ltd has signed a shipbuilding contract worth $34,575,000m for the construction of one unit of 30,000 DWT self discharging cement carrier scheduled to be delivered in March 2008. This shipbuilding contract is not expected to have any material effect on the earnings per share and net tangible assets per share of Labroy Group in the current year.

Ultrastrip Issued Patent

US' UltraStrip Systems, the developer of robotic ship hull cleaning equipment, has announced that it has received from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent number US 6,564,815 titled "Air Gap Magnetic Mobile Robot". The new patent allows UltraStrip Systems to further expand its patented coatings removal systems. Keppel Hitatchi Buys Keppel Marine Shiprepair, Shipbuilding Business

Keppel Hitachi Zosen Ltd. has reportedly agreed to buy Keppel Marine Industries Ltd.'s shiprepair and building business for $98.9 million in cash. Keppel Hitachi said it would acquire all of Keppel Marine's investments in Keppel Singmarine Dockyard Pte Ltd., Eagle Engineering Pte Ltd., Keppel UAE-Investment Pte Ltd., Keppel Philippines Marine Inc., and Penguin Boat International Ltd.

Swire Pacific Offshore Selects MAN B&W

MAN B&W Diesel has been awarded the contract to supply complete twin-screw medium speed propulsion packages for six Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (AHTS). The newbuildings, which will be built by Labroy Shipyard, Batam, Indonesia (Labroy Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd, Singapore) are to be operated by Swire Pacific Offshore Limited, Singapore. The first newbuilding is expected to be launched in the beginning of 2007, and the following vessels are planned to follow at two-month intervals. The 120-ton bollard pull AHTS vessels have been designed by the U.K.-based IMT Marine Consultants Ltd., with specific optimization for the worldwide operation of Swire Pacific Offshore activities.
