Italian oil and gas company Eni said Saturday that the first hydrocarbons had been introduced from the Coral South reservoir offshore Mozambique into the Coral South FLNG unit.Eni operates the offshore Area 4 where the Coral South FLNG is located. Dutch dredging company Royal Boskalis Westminster announced that its 50%-owned associate company Smit Lamnalco is contracted by Coral FLNG to provide marine services to the first Mozambique floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) terminal.The 10-year contract with additional extension options marks the first terminal services contract award for the Mozambique offshore LNG developments.The contract value for Smit Lamnalco amounts to approximately USD 200 million and services will commence early 2022.For the delivery of its services Smit Lamnalco will deploy three new 95 ton bollard pull tugs to provide escort, berthing and unberthing services to LNG carriers at the FLNG facility.
Anadarko Signs LNG Supply Deal with JERA, CPC
US hydrocarbon exploration company Anadarko has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Japanese power company JERA and Taiwanese oil and gas company CPC.The SPA calls for the delivered ex-ship supply of 1.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) for a base term of 17 years from the commercial start date. BP Pact with Eni to Buy Gas from New Mozambique Field
BP and the Area 4 concession partners, Eni East Africa (EEA), Galp Energia (Galp), Kogas and Empresa Nactional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), have entered into a sales and purchase agreement for BP to purchase 100% of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced by the EEA-operated Coral South Floating LNG facility expected to be installed offshore Mozambique. The agreement covers the purchase of LNG for over 20 years. The agreement, which has been approved by the government of Mozambique, is conditional on the Final Investment Decision (FID) being taken for the project, which is currently expected by the end of 2016. The Coral South Floating LNG facility is expected to have a capacity above 3.3 million tonnes per annum. BP will use LNG from the contract to help meet its global supply commitments.
Mozambique: $30b Invested for 2018 LNG Export
More than $30 billion will be invested initially in Mozambique's natural gas sector to build capacity to produce 20 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with the first exports due to start in 2018, the national oil company said. The investments will be made to develop the northern ports of Pemba and Palma, where a giant logistics base and LNG production plants are planned that will use gas produced from offshore fields in the Rovuma Basin being developed by U.S. oil major Anadarko Petroleum Corp and Italy's Eni. Mozambique, which still bears the scars of a 1975-1992 civil war, is hoping revenues from its large gas deposits and its fledgling coal mining industry will help it emerge from years of poverty and dependence on foreign donors.
