Crowley Christens New Ocean Class Tugboat

As part of the company's new vessel build program, Crowley Maritime Corp. christened the latest of its four tugboats in the ocean class series, Ocean Sun, today in Lake Charles. The ceremony served to formally welcome the fourth dynamic positioning 2 (DP2) tugboat to the company’s expanded ocean towing fleet, which has been involved in most of the major offshore oil production installations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico over the past 18 months. Todd Busch, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley’s solutions group, opened the ceremony to approximately 80 guests.

Harvey Gulf Awarded Contract

Harvey Gulf International Marine, Inc. is proud to announce that it has been awarded a three (3) year contract from ENI Petroleum for their 240 Ft. ABS Certified DP-2, Offshore Supply Vessel “Harvey Provider,” which would be enhanced with a ”Reel Storage System” beginning in June 2008. This “Reel Storage System” will be used to carry 800 metric tons of polyester rope or 90,000 feet of 3.75 inch wire rope that will enable the Transocean Amirante to be moored in greater water depths than its conventional mooring system allows by utilizing a 12 line, preset suction pile system. This vessel will allow ENI to reduce the number of days the company would have to spot charter hire AHTS vessels which will equate to huge financial savings to the company.

Dominion to Sell Offshore E&P Ops for $4.7B

Dominion agreed to sell its offshore natural gas and oil exploration and production operations to Eni Petroleum Co. Inc., a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni, for approximately $4.76 billion. These operations include approximately 967 billion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas and oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico shelf and deep water as of Dec. 31, 2006, with 2006 average daily production of approximately 503 million cubic feet equivalent. "Today’s announcement is a significant step in Dominion’s previously announced strategic plan to refocus on the power generation and energy distribution, transmission, storage and retail businesses," said Chairman, President and CEO Thomas F. Farrell II.

Finalists Named for DOI’s 2006 Safety Awards for Excellence (SAFE)

Fifteen offshore energy companies have been named national finalists for the Department of the Interior’s 2006 Safety Awards for Excellence (SAFE) competition. Sponsored by the Minerals Management Service (MMS), the SAFE awards are presented annually to Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas operators and contractors who achieve excellence in safety and pollution prevention. Established in 1983, the SAFE Awards recognize and honor companies making concerted efforts to train and motivate their employees to conduct offshore operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
