ExxonMobil Makes Two Oil Discoveries Offshore Guyana. Liza Unity FPSO on Track for First Oil in 1Q

Oil and gas major ExxonMobil on Wednesday announced two new oil discoveries offshore Guyana, at Fangtooth and Lau Lau wells, adding to previous recoverable resource estimate of 10 billion oil-equivalent barrels.The Fangtooth-1 well, drilled with the Stena DrillMAX drillship, encountered approximately 164 feet (50 meters) of high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs. The well was drilled in 6,030 feet (1,838 meters) of water and is located approximately 11 miles (18 kilometers) northwest of the Liza field. The Lau Lau-1 well, drilled by the Noble Don Taylor drillship, hit around 315 feet (96 meters) of high-quality hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone reservoirs.

SBM Wins ExxonMobil Guyana FPSO Order

ExxonMobil, Hess Announce Oil Discovery Offshore Guyana

ExxonMobil and the Hess Corporation announced an eighth oil discovery offshore Guyana at the Longtail-1 well, creating the potential for additional resource development in the southeast area of the Stabroek Block. Exxon Starts Drilling at Offshore Guyana Projects

ExxonMobil Announces Oil Discovery Offshore Guyana

Exxon Mobil Corporation announced its sixth oil discovery offshore Guyana since 2015, following positive results from its Ranger-1 exploration well. The Ranger-1 well discovery adds to previous discoveries at Liza, Payara, Snoek, Liza Deep and Turbot, which are estimated to total more than 3.2 billion recoverable oil-equivalent barrels. ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd. began drilling the Ranger-1 well on November 5, 2017 and encountered approximately 70 meters of high-quality, oil-bearing carbonate reservoir.

SBM Offshore Completes FPSO Liza Financing

SBM Offshore said it has secured the $720 million project financing for FPSO Liza through a consortium of 12 international banks, completed on December 19, 2017. SBM Offshore said it expects to draw the loan in full, phased over the construction period of the FPSO. The financing will become non-recourse once the FPSO is completed and the pre-completion guarantees have been released. The post completion project loan has a tenor of 10 years, with a variable interest cost of LIBOR plus 1.65 percent.

SBM Offshore Awarded Liza FPSO Contract

SBM Offshore said it has secured contracts from ExxonMobil to construct, install, lease and operate a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) for the next phase of the Liza project in Guyana. The contracts follow completion of front-end engineering studies and the final investment decision on the project by ExxonMobil. The Liza field is located in the Stabroek block, which covers almost 27,000 square kilometers, circa 200 kilometers offshore Guyana. Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited is the operator and holds a 45 percent interest in the Stabroek block. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds a 30 percent interest, and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana Limited holds a 25 percent interest.

Under the FPSO contracts, SBM Offshore will perform Front End Engineering and Design for the FPSO, and, subject to a final investment decision on the project in 2017, will construct, install and operate the FPSO. The Liza field has a potential resource estimate in excess of 1 billion oil-equivalent barrels and is located in the Stabroek block, which covers almost 27,000 square kilometers, approximately 193 kilometers offshore Guyana. Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited is the operator and holds a 45 percent interest in the Stabroek block.

Shell Starts Bonga Phase 3 in Nigeria

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) announced the start-up of production from the Bonga Phase 3 project. Bonga Phase 3 is an expansion of the Bonga Main development, with peak production expected to be some 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent, Shell said. This will be transported through existing pipelines to the Bonga floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility, which has the capacity to produce more than 200,000 barrels of oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of gas a day.

ExxonMobil Begins Production at Kizomba

Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited (Esso Angola), has started oil production ahead of schedule at the Kizomba Satellites Phase 2 project offshore Angola. Kizomba Satellites Phase 2 is a Block 15 subsea infrastructure development of the Kakocha, Bavuca and Mondo South fields. Mondo South is the first field to begin production, and the other two satellite fields are expected to start up in the coming months. The project develops approximately 190 million barrels of oil with peak production currently estimated at 70,000 barrels of oil per day. The project is expected to increase total daily Block 15 production to 350,000 barrels. Esso Angola is operator of the project and Block 15.

Technip Wins Subsea Contract on Triton FPSO

Technip has been awarded a brownfield subsea contract for the Triton(1) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, operated by Dana Petroleum, located in the central North Sea. This FPSO vessel is located 193 kilometers east of Aberdeen, at a water depth of approximately 90 meters. It produces oil and gas from different fields - Bittern, Guillemot West and North West, Clapham, Pict and Saxon, which are tied back to the FPSO vessel via subsea facilities comprising a series of pipelines and manifolds.  additional installation, repair and maintenance works. Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen, United Kingdom (UK), will execute this contract which is a continuation of similar work successfully completed in 2014.

Seadrill Nets ExxonMobil Nigeria Job

ExxonMobil has signed up for a Seadrill newbuild drillship for work off West Africa for up to three years. The ultra-deepwater West Saturn, currently under construction in South Korea, will work for the US supermajor at the Erha North Phase 2 development off Nigeria, Seadrill said on Friday. The Norwegian contractor said the deal with ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria was won along with partner Field Offshore Design Engineering Nigeria. The oil company has taken the sixth generation unit for a firm two-year period, with a one-year option. Seadrill said the primary contract term, understood to refer to the firm period, would yield total revenue to both it and Field Offshore of $497 million, inclusive of mobilisation.

FMC $520M Order for Total's CLOV Development

FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced it has signed an agreement with Total Exploration & Production Angola for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment for the CLOV development project. The award has a value of approximately $520m in revenue to FMC Technologies. FMC's scope of supply includes the manufacture of 36 subsea trees, wellheads and controls. The company will also supply eight manifolds, two workover systems and associated tooling and equipment. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2012. The deepwater CLOV development project consists of the Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta discoveries, located in approximately 4,500 feet (1,370 meters) of water in Block 17 offshore Angola.

Stolt Offshore Reports Milestone Reached On Girassol Field

Stolt Offshore reported that, following the TotalFinaElf announcement of first oil production from the Girassol field, that a major milestone had been reached on this unique field development on which Stolt Offshore has been working for four years. Ship Finance to Acquire Drillship

Ship Finance International Limited announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the newbuilding ultra-deepwater drillship West Polaris, from a subsidiary of Seadrill Limited. With a total acquisition cost of approximately $850 million, the vessel is expected to be delivered end of June 2008 from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. It will be chartered back to the seller for 15 years on a bareboat basis, fully guaranteed by Seadrill. The Company has received commitments for a $700 million loan facility from a syndicate of leading international banks, and the remaining $150 million will be funded from the Company's available liquidity. West Polaris will be employed initially by Seadrill on a 4 year contract to Esso Exploration Inc., a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation.

TENC-CA UK North Sea Sale & Transfer

Shell U.K. Limited (Shell),Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited, (ExxonMobil), Mobil North Sea LLC (ExxonMobil) and Enterprise Oil U.K. Limited (Shell) completed the final sale and transfer of a number of northern North Sea assets to TAQA Bratani Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) on Dec. 1, 2008. The assets include equity and operatorship of Tern, Kestrel, Eider, Pelican, Cormorant North and South Cormorant fields (TENC-CA) and related infrastructure, a non-operated interest in Hudson, and equity interests in the Sullom Voe Terminal and Brent System. TAQA Bratani will assume responsibility for the decommissioning liabilities relating to these fields and infrastructure.
