Rolls-Royce Takes Davies on Board

Rolls-Royce appointed Alan Davies as a Non-Executive Director. He will join the Board with effect from November 1, 2015 and will become a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee, and the Audit Committee. Alan Davies is currently Chief Executive of Rio Tinto's Diamonds and Minerals division. He joined Rio Tinto in 1997 and has held a number of senior positions in Australia, London and the US, predominantly in Rio Tinto's Iron Ore product group where he has served as CFO, Managing Director Global Development and as President International Operations. Alan Davies is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Ian Davis, Rolls-Royce, Chairman, said, "I am delighted that Alan Davies will be joining us as a Non-Executive Director.

Recommendation from Statoil's Nomination Committee

The nomination committee in Statoil has recommended that the company's corporate assembly elects Øystein Løseth as new chair and Roy Franklin as a new member and deputy chair of Statoil's board of directors. Furthermore, the nomination committee recommends a re-election of Bjørn Tore Godal, Jakob Stausholm and Marjan Oudeman as members of the board of directors. Chair of the board Svein Rennemo and board member Jim Mulva have informed the nomination committee that they do not wish to stand for re-election in 2015. Svein Rennemo has been chair of the Statoil board of directors since 2008, and informed the nomination committee in 2014 that he wanted to be replaced.

Rolls-Royce Rejigs Top Deck

Rolls-Royce announced today that James Guyette, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce North America, has decided to retire after 17 years with the company. He is currently an Executive Director on the Board of Rolls-Royce plc and Chairman of Rolls-Royce North America Holdings Inc. He will step down from the Rolls-Royce plc Board at the Annual General Meeting on 8 May 2015, and from his role at Rolls-Royce North America on 31 May 2015. Chairman, Ian Davis said, "I'd like to pay tribute to the tremendous contribution Jim Guyette has made to Rolls-Royce over many years. He has helped guide the business through a period of significant expansion, especially in the North American market.

Sir Frank Chapman Appointed Golar's Chairman

Golar LNG Limited announced that with effect from September 19, 2014, Sir Frank Joseph Chapman has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company and will act as the Company's Chairman. Sir Frank Chapman has worked 40 years in the oil and gas industry culminating in a twelve-year period as Chief Executive of BG Group plc. Under Sir Frank's leadership, BG Group grew from the modest UK-based Exploration and Production interests of the old British Gas into an international integrated oil and gas major. Operating profits grew from some $50 million in 1996 to more than $8 billion in 2012. Sir Frank is currently a non-executive director of Rolls-Royce plc and chairman of their safety and ethics committee.

Professor in Hot Water for Hosting Costa Concordia Captain

A professor who invited the disgraced captain of the capsized Costa Concordia to speak at a criminology seminar has been referred to the ethics committee at Rome's La Sapienza University, the university said on Wednesday. Professor Vincenzo Mastronardi held the seminar last month reconstructing the January 2012 shipwreck in which 32 people died, complete with 3D graphics and comments from the ship's captain Francesco Schettino, the university said. Dean Corgey to Serve on Port of Houston Commission

Houston City Council appoints Dean Corgey, V-P of the Seafarers International Union Gulf Coast Region, to serve as member of the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority. Corgey's appointment fills the seat previously held by Janiece Longoria, who was named Port Commission Chairman January 8 during a joint session of the Houston City Council and Harris County Commissioners Court. Lord Gold to Review Rolls-Royce Compliance Procedures

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, announce the appointment of Lord Gold, who will report to the Ethics Committee of the Board. This appointment follows the previous announcement by Rolls-Royce that it has provided information to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) relating to concerns about bribery and corruption involving intermediaries in overseas markets. Lord Gold was a solicitor at Herbert Smith for 37 years, serving as its senior partner between 2005 and 2010. He is one of the UK's most senior litigators and has extensive experience working at the highest levels with corporations, governments and regulators around the world.
