Holland America Line, Seabourn are World’s Most Ethical Companies

Savvy Fuel Management Fuels TOTE’s Growth

As Tote pioneers the use of natural gas as a marine fuel with two groundbreaking projects, Anthony Chiarello combines the strength and diversity of the Saltchuk group of companies with a forward-thinking, environmentally correct Tote business plan. As TOTE prepares to bring the world’s first natural gas-powered containerships to the maritime industry, the firm will also be the first to convert its existing fleet to run on natural gas. Two Orca Class vessels, operated by Totem Ocean Trailer Express (Totem Ocean) in the Alaska trade, will be converted with minimal time out of service and return as the most environmentally advanced ships in the nation.

HAL & Kelly Clark in ‘Attorneys Who Matter’ List Again

The Ethisphere Institute, the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, recognized Holland America Line and Seabourn’s Kelly Clark for the second consecutive year in its “2014 Attorney’s Who Matter” list of lawyers in the Best General Counsel category. Clark serves as vice president, general counsel, and chief ethics officer for the Seattle-based cruise lines. This award showcases individuals representing the best and brightest in the legal field — from in-house counsel, ethics and compliance officers to outside counsel. The Ethisphere Institute reviews nominees’ professional expertise, peer and client endorsements, public service and compliance results they have achieved for their companies, among a variety of other criteria.

For the third consecutive year, Holland America Line, together with sister line Seabourn, was named among the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute, a leading business ethics think-tank. The company secured its spot on the list by implementing and maintaining business practices and initiatives that are instrumental to company success and benefit the community. Named in the Leisure and Hospitality category, Holland America Line/Seabourn is one of 144 total honorees representing 41 industries from around the world. Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer Kelly Clark and Emmely Kik, Manager, Ethics and Compliance, accepted the 2014 World’s Most Ethical Companies award at an event March 20 in New York City.

Saltchuk Acquires Tropical Shipping

A subsidiary of Saltchuk Resources, a transportation and petroleum distribution company, has entered into a binding purchase and sale agreement to acquire Tropical Shipping and its related companies. The acquisition includes the premier shipping and logistics company for the Bahamas and Caribbean, Tropical Shipping and all of its related transportation, consolidation and cargo insurance companies. As an international foreign flagged shipping and logistics operation, Tropical and its related companies will become Saltchuk’s sixth line of business.

Panama Canal Receives Ethical Business Practices Recognition

For the third consecutive year, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) was recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies. According to the Ethisphere, this recognition highlights companies that outperform industry peers by embracing ethical business practices and demonstrating industry leadership.
