World's First LNG-Powered Cruise Ships: Shell to Supply Fuel

Shell Western LNG B.V. (Shell) signed a supply agreement with Carnival Corporation & plc (Carnival) to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel two of the world’s largest passenger cruise ships. Under the agreement, Shell will supply LNG for the world’s first LNG-powered cruise ships due to start sailing in northwest Europe and the Mediterranean in 2019. This will be the first time LNG in dual-fuel engines will be used in the cruise industry to power ships both in port and at sea.

Marseille Fos Repeats Q1 Cargo Result

French port Marseille Fos handled 20.17 million metric tons of cargo from January to March in a near identical repeat of last year’s first-quarter result. General cargo rose 1 percent to 4.49MT led by container growth at Fos, which gained 3 percent for 263,038 teu. However, total box volumes slipped 3 percent to 304,664 teu – and by 1 percent to 2.93MT in tonnage terms - after a difficult start to the year at Marseille, where container traffic fell 27 percent to 41,626 teu. Ro-Ro Traffic: ERL Selects HAROPA

In order to develop its business of carriage of new and secondhand vehicles from France, European Roro Lines (ERL), a company among the leaders of the ro-ro traffic bound for Africa, has selected HAROPA. Created March 1, the French subsidiary of European Roro Lines, (ERL France) has just set up its head office in the port of Le Havre and launches the operation of a river terminal on a surface of 4,650 sq. m. at the port of Gennevilliers - port in the ‘Ile-de-France’ (Paris) region - dedicated to the transport of vehicles to the ‘quai de l’Europe’ (Europe terminal) in Le Havre.
