Erma First BWTS Installed for Evalend Shipping

Erma First ESK Engineering Solutions S.A. has concluded the installation of its Ballast Water Management System "Erma First" in two container ships being built at Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding for Greek owner Evalend Shipping Co. S.A. The agreement for the installations was signed in 2012 with Erma First who was awarded the contract against seven competitors. Erma First  was selected by both the shipyard and the owner on the basis of the system’s cost effectiveness, while a key factor was also the double filter system it carries.

Evalend to Join Lasco Logger Pool

Two of Evalend Shipping Co. S.A. newly purchased logger ships, the Ambassador and the Senator, have been placed in the Lasco Logger Pool. Evalend, a private management company in Athens, Greece, operates ten ships in its fleet, committed two Hakodate built loggers to the Pool, which is commercially managed by Lasco. Evalend will perform its own technical management of its vessels. In commenting on the announcement, Anton U. Genco Shipping to Acquire Six Drybulk Vessels

Genco Shipping & Trading Limited announced that it has agreed to acquire six drybulk vessels with an average age of approximately 2 years from affiliates of Evalend Shipping Co. S.A. for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $336m. The acquisition is subject to the completion of customary additional documentation and closing conditions. Genco plans to finance the acquisition through borrowings under its $1.4b revolving credit facility. The six vessels, comprised of three Supramax vessels and three Handysize vessels, are expected to be delivered to Genco during the fourth quarter of 2007.
