SHIPPINGInsight Agenda, Keynote Speakers Announced

SHIPPINGInsight announced the agenda and identified keynote speakers for the fifth Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition. The annual event will take place October 18-19, 2016, at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa in Stamford, Conn. Capt. Michael Wilson, president & COO of Laurin Maritime (America), will serve as conference chairman. John D. (Jack) Noonan, COO of Chembulk Tankers, and Capt. Norbert Aschmann, CEO of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, will deliver the keynote addresses on Days One and Two.

Bergeron to be Keynote Speaker at SHIPPINGInsight

Scott Bergeron, CEO of the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), has agreed to serve as a keynote speaker at the SHIPPINGInsight 2015 Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition, which takes place in Stamford, Conn., Oct. 13-14. Bergeron joins four other distinguished keynoters at the annual maritime technology event. He will lead off the roundtable on “The Role of Class & Flag” in the “Efficient Ships” session on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Naval EXPO Coming to Washington

For the first time ever, the general public will be admitted free to the Naval Future Force Science and Technology EXPO general exhibit hall Feb. 4-5 where they will be able to see the Electromagnetic Railgun, an autonomous swarmboat, a firefighting robot and much more. Held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., the EXPO is the Navy's premiere science and technology (S&T) event, held every two years to showcase some of the Navy's latest technologies and bring together the brightest minds from around the world to share information, discuss research opportunities and build S&T partnerships between the Navy, Marine Corps, industry and academia.

E-Crane Holds Technology Showcase in New Orleans

E-Crane agents and special guests attended the E-Crane Technology Showcase in New Orleans during the first week of December in conjunction with the International WorkBoat Show (IWBS). The three day event consisted of a dinner reception and presentations on the evening on Wednesday, December 3, as well as two site visits on the following days to see actual E-Cranes in operation. E-Crane guests and attendees were also given special access to the WorkBoat Show, and were able to attend the exhibit hall throughout the week.

US Military Officials Speak About Forward Presence

Leading officials from the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard spoke about operating forward and being partners with global presence at the 2014 Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., April 7. The Sea-Air-Space Expo is an annual event that brings together key military decision makers, the U.S. defense industrial base and private-sector U.S. companies for an innovative and educational maritime based event. Vice Adm. Michelle Howard, deputy chief of naval operations for Operations, Plans, and Strategy, delivered opening remarks. "It's my pleasure to sit with such a group of, not just distinguished panelists, but in many cases good friends," said Howard.

ASNE Day 2009, NEO Vehicles

Attendees at next month’s ASNE Day 2009 Symposium at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, will have the opportunity to view six assets from the Navy Expeditionary Overwatch (NEO) initiative. The NEO capability is a Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren-Office of Naval Research (ONR) initiative to provide state of the art communications, sensor and engagement platforms to warfighters on the ground as well as in the littorals. NEO consists of air, land and sea vehicles linked to a central control station over a common communications network.
