Aberdeen Harbour Board has awarded two new contracts for the construction of the South Breakwater and Crown Wall, with a total value of £60 million (USD 83,5 million)Dutch marine and offshore contractor Van Oord will act as the principal contractor for the 550-meter-long South Breakwater, and Scottish-based construction firm Beattie FRC will build the concrete Crown Wall along the length of the North Breakwater.Both structures will provide critical protection for vessels and operations within the Harbour expansion, ultimately protecting the port from a one-in-300-year storm.

West Coast U.S. shipbuilding and repair powerhouse Vigor has selected a Vancouver, Washington site to be the home for its new  all-aluminum fabrication facility.With a nearly billion dollar contract in its hip pocket to build the U.S. Army’s new landing craft over the next 10 years, Vigor is expanding it's shipbuilding operations to a new state-of-the-art aluminum fabrication facility with this project serving as the anchor for production.The facility as formerly the home of Christensen Yachts, deemed by the company as the best location to build the U.S.

Representatives from the five multilateral institutions that have signed agreements for the financing of the Panama Canal Expansion Program took part in the annual visit organized to oversee the program’s progress. “This visit is part of the agreement signed between the Panama Canal Authority and the five institutions that have provided partial financing for the Expansion Program,” Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. The Panama Canal Expansion Program passes a milestone with the arrival of first shipment of valves for the third set of locks. The valves were built in South Korea by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. “This marks a new milestone for the Panama Canal expansion works, particularly for the construction of the new locks,” Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano said. Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Administrator/CEO Alberto Alemán Zubieta welcomed officials from South Carolina, including state legislative and port representatives. The delegation, which visited the Panama Canal and the Pacific side expansion site, arrived in Panama September 22. The initial meeting, included South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA) Board of Directors Chairman Bill Stern; South Carolina State Senator Larry Grooms; Rockefeller Group Development Corporation Executive Vice President, Development, Leslie E. Smith, Jr.; and Mr. Alemán Zubieta.
