Matson Installs Six Scrubbers

The U.S.-based provider of ocean freight transportation services Matson has begun the installation  exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers) on six vessels deployed in its Hawaii and China-Long Beach Express services.The scrubbers installation is  part of its strategy to reduce fleet emissions in line with new worldwide regulations established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) that take effect on January 1, 2020. Three of the vessels will receive the new equipment in 2019 and the remaining three in 2020.While new low-sulfur fuels designed to meet the new IMO emission standard have been in development for years in anticipation of the change, there is still uncertainty about their costs and availability.

CMA CGM to Tap Indonesian Market

CMA CGM aims to increase its market share in Indonesia to 20 percent by year-end from the current 13 percent, reported The Jakarta Post. The company's senior vice president in Asia, Jean-Yves Duval said that with aggressive marketing, as well as longer and more efficient routes, we believe we can have 20 percent of the market by end of 2017. Recently, the Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II President Director Elvyn G Masassya welcomed the arrival of the largest container ship CMA CGM Otello which berthed at Jakarta International Container Terminal. The arrival of the ship is in conjunction with the cooperation to serve a new route with the Java South East Asia Express Services (JAX Service).

CMA CGM Group Upgrades African Service

The CMA CGM Group announced changes to its African service, upgrading its EURAF 4 service to directly connect West Africa to the West Mediterranean markets each week starting July 18, the group announced. Up until now, the EURAF 4 service has been calling the following ports: Tangiers, Lome, Cotonou, Port Gentil, Libreville, Lome and Tangiers. Troy Announces Italy Express Service

Troy Container Line has announced an improved express service from Genoa, Italy to New York. Along with its partner Combi Line International Spa, the companies will now offer a 10-day transit from Genoa in addition to pick-ups throughout Italy.
