James Fisher Names New Head of Energy Division

Offshore services firm James Fisher and Sons has appointed Neil Sims as its new Head of Energy. Sims will report to Chief Executive Officer, Jean Vernet, as part of the James Fisher executive team.Sims joins James Fisher from Expro, where he most recently served as Product Line Vice President and was responsible for their well flow management portfolio and sustainability and ESG transitional strategy.

U.K.-based marine services company James Fisher and Sons plc announced it has appointed Jean Vernet as chief executive officer.He will take up this position on September 5, 2022, succeeding Eoghan O’Lionaird who will step down from his position on the board and as CEO. O’Lionaird will  remain employed by the group until June 13, 2023, to ensure a smooth and effective transition of responsibility.Vernet has considerable experience working in the offshore energy sector in both the U.K. and around the world. Most recently, he was CEO of Smiths Group’s largest division, John Crane.

Cost Reduction of Well Construction on UK Continental Shelf

Since 2004, well construction costs in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) have doubled, directly impacting drilling activity which is currently at an all-time low. However, collective industry efforts are already focusing in on how a reduction in core drilling costs of 50 per cent could potentially unlock around five billion boe of known reserves over the next decade. The significant work the industry is doing through the Technology Leadership Board (TLB) to address the well cost reduction challenge, will feature in a forthcoming event organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen section on September 21 at Aberdeen’s Douglas Hotel.

DST Toolstring Deployed in Gulf of Mexico

International oilfield services company, Expro, has deployed its new design ExACT (Expro Annulus-Operated Circulating and Test Tool) in its first live offshore well. The successful operation, a tubing conveyed perforating ‘shoot and pull’, took place on the Vermillion field offshore in the Gulf of Mexico following trial work onshore in Brazil last year. Expro Receives Ninth Safety Award from RoSPA

International oilfield services company, Expro, has been recognized for the ninth consecutive year by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its outstanding global safety record. Expro has been awarded a RoSPA Commendation for excellence in health and safety at work within the oil and gas sector in the Society’s 2013 Awards. The company has received awards from RoSPA for the past nine years, achieving a gold award in 2005 and then winning the Oil & Gas sector award in 2006 and retaining it in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Gulf of Mexico Recruiters Step Up Efforts

OilCareers.com has  released statistics suggesting that staff roles offered by employers in the Gulf of Mexico have increased almost sixteenfold in the last three years. Statistics show that the margin between contract and staff positions that reflected an equal split in 2009 now reveal a shift to five times as many staff than contract roles equating to 80% of job types currently registered on OilCareers.com. Expro Enters $10 Million Full-Service Contract in Brazil

International oilfield services company Expro has been awarded a contract to provide equipment and services in support of a client’s offshore project in Latin America. Located in the Santos Basin, in Brazil, the BS-4 block encompasses two post-salt wells and one pre salt well. Expro has been contracted to provide heavy oil well testing to post-salt wells and data management services through partner company Baker Hughes, in a contract valued at more than $10 million (£6.5 million).

Expro Awarded Subsea Services Contract in China

International oilfield service company, Expro, has been awarded a $4.5 (£2.9) million one year contract for the supply of 7 3/8” completion landing string services in China. Work will commence this month, and as part of the contract, Expro will supply a 7 3/8” 10k direct hydraulic (DH) completion landing string system and a set of topside and DH controls. This will be the latest DH operation in China following previous successful campaigns on other horizontal tree developments. Expro’s subsea safety systems provides in-riser landing strings for well interventions and completions.

OAA 2013 Are Open for Entries

Following a successful re-launch last year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen Section is again hosting the Offshore Achievement Awards with the support of main sponsor TAQA Bratani. This year will see the ceremony move to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre to meet the huge demand for spaces at the event in March 2012. Over 70 entries were received for the 2012 awards, which took place at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen in front of around 400 people. Winners included Expro Group, AMEC and 3sun Group, with Professor Alex Kemp picking up the Lifetime Achievement award.

Expro Awarded Contract Extension in Cameroon

Leading international oilfield services company Expro is celebrating a significant contract extension with Perenco in Cameroon. The award is an extension of services from a previous well campaign and will last for the duration of one year. Expro will provide an extended well test, data acquisition services and its drill stem testing (DST) package including Expro’s CaTS™ wireless telemetry technology which will be utilised as a surface read-out system. Work will take place across two exploration and appraisal (E&A) wells in the Lungahe and Elombo fields and two development wells in Dissoni. Expro’s AX-S Subsea Well Intervention System

International oilfield services company Expro is celebrating the commissioning of its ground-breaking AX-S well intervention system. The AX-S system, on board the Havila Phoenix vessel, completed its final commissioning successfully on a subsea well in a fjord (Onarheimsfjorden), in Norway, in April. Many major milestones were achieved and preparations are now under way for its first commercial well intervention job in the North Sea. All operations during the commissioning were carried out safely without any incidents.

Expro CaTS Secures New contracts

Leading international oilfield service company Expro has secured $10M of new contracts to supply its cableless telemetry system (CaTS). Expro’s CaTS advanced reservoir testing (ART) service will be utilised by two operators in Brazil to provide high value, accurate and reliable pressure and temperature data from four suspended deepwater subsea exploration / appraisal wells. In addition, the ART service will also be used by operators of two wells in the North Sea, with one well located west of Shetland with the other located in the Central North Sea.

Milestone Renewable Contract for Expro

Expro Connectors & Measurements’ new renewable division has been awarded an important order by Alstom. Expro Connectors & Measurements (C&M) partners with Alstom to develop a cable connection and management system to be deployed on one of Alstom’s ocean energy projects, thus contributing to Alstom’s development of clean technology solutions to harness the energy potential of the world’s oceans. Expro will be supplying its SpecTRON, DigiTRON and FoeTRON wet mateable products alongside a cable connection system and termination head as well as cable protection and aftermarket services for site cable termination. Expro Wins £7.3m Power Connector Contract

Expro has been awarded its single biggest power connector order to date with a contract worth in the region of £7.3million. Aker Solutions, of Norway, has ordered high-voltage subsea connectors for the subsea gas compression system the company is developing for Statoil at the Åsgard field, which is located 124 miles offshore of Norway, in the Halten bank of the Norwegian Sea.
