Contract Win Brings Sea Trucks to the Arctic

Sea Trucks Group announced it has been awarded a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering for the provision of an accommodation vessel for the Arkutun-Dagi Project operated by Exxon Neftegas Limited in Sakhalin, Russia. Sea Truck’s Jascon 25 vessel will be used for the project, which is expected to commence in Q2 2014 for a duration of 120 days, with options to extend the contract up to 90 days. Finnish Shipbuilding and Arctic Operations

The first of two Arctic offshore supply vessels for Russia’s SCF Group was recently delivered by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard

The STX Turku Shipyard in Finland recently lost the order for a third Oasis class cruise ship and an option for a fourth to ”sister” shipyard STX France, when neither the owner, the financially troubled STX Group, nor the Finnish government wanted to inject a missing $64.3m to the capital of the shipyard. The yard is currently building two 97,000gt cruise ships for TUI Cruises. In January the shipyard delivered the world’s first LNG-fuelled big size passenger-car ferry, the Viking Grace for Baltic ferry operator Viking Line.

Kvaerner Wins EPC Contract for Hebron GBS Project

ExxonMobil Canada Properties has released the option for Kvaerner's joint venture company Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors to provide the full scope of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS). The contract value for Kvaerner's share of the full EPC contract is approximately $1.5 billion and includes work conducted to date on the Hebron project. Arctic OSV Delivered 4 Months

Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, joint-venture, that is 50/50 owned by STX Finland and United Shipbuilding Corporation, is building two identical offshore icebreaking supply vessels for Russias largest shipping group Sovcomflot (SCF Group), the leading company in the world specializing in ice-management and shipping in harsh environments. The vessels will supply Exxon Neftegas Limited's platform in Arkutun-Dagi oil and gas field in Sakhalin area, Far East Russia. The development of the field is proceeding at good pace, why also the icebreaking offshore supply vessels are needed in the area. The main task of the Arctic offshore vessels is to supply the oil and gas production platform and to protect it from the ice. Both vessels measure 99.9 m in length and 21.7 m in breadth.

Prisco Sells Six Tankers

Primorsk International Shipping Limited (Prisco) announced the en bloc sale by Prisco and purchase by OAO Sovcomflot (SCF) of six tanker vessels employed on the Sakhalin shuttle trades. The terms of the sales were not disclosed. Two of the vessels are time-chartered to Exxon Neftegas Limited (“ENL”) for Sakhalin -1 oil export operations. Both vessels will continue operations under current agreement with ENL. Three other vessels are on charter to Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd (Sakhalin Energy). The sixth vessel is fully equipped, designed and constructed for Sakhalin shuttle service and was formerly chartered to ENL. Aker Solutions Wins Hebron GBS Project

Kiewit-Aker Contractors, a 50/50 joint venture between Peter Kiewit Infrastructure and Aker Solutions, has been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil Canada Properties (EMCP) for the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS). The contract is for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and site preparation, with the option at ExxonMobil's discretion to subsequently provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. The contract value for Aker Solutions' share of the FEED and site preparation is $70m. The Hebron Field is an oil and gas development in the Atlantic Ocean located 350 kilometres offshore from St. John's, in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Aker Solutions Awarded Contracts GBS

Aker Solutions has been awarded contracts from Exxon Neftegas Limited, as operator on behalf of the Sakhalin-1 Consortium, for designing, constructing and delivering the Arkutun-Dagi gravity base structure (GBS) for the Sakhalin-1 project. The GBS construction will primarily utilize Russian workers, subcontractors, and materials. Once completed, the GBS will be located offshore Sakhalin Island on the east coast of Russia and will be a part of the drilling and production facilities for the Arkutun-Dagi development, a future phase of Sakhalin-1. The other participants in the Sakhalin-1 Consortium are SODECO, ONGC Videsh Ltd, and affiliates of Rosneft, Sakhalinmorneftegas-Shelf and RN-Astra.

V.Ships Awarded Sakhalin Tankers Contract

Primorsk Shipping Corporation of Nakhodka (PRISCO) has awarded V.Ships a contract for the full technical management of three ice-class tankers. These vessels will be on long-term time charter to the Sakhalin-1 Consortium for operations in Phase 1 of the Sakhalin-1 Project, operated by Exxon Neftegas Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil. Following a call for tenders from Exxon Neftegas Limited in November 2002, for a series of five new building ice-class shuttle tankers, V.Ships Consulting was hired by PRISCO to assist them in it’s bid to build these aframax size vessels. This assistance included development of the vessel specifications and assistance in reviewing the shipyard offers.

Crowley Marine Services' Energy and Marine Services business unit has successfully moved the 312-ft. (9.5-m) square concrete island drilling structure Orlan from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to Sovietskaya Gavan in the Russian Far East for Sakhalin I Project operator, Exxon Neftegas Limited (ENL), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation. The Orlan (ex Glomar Beaufort Sea I) Concrete Island Drilling System (CIDS) was purchased from Global Marine Drilling Company and will be used for oil production as part of the Sakhalin 1 project, offshore Russia. It was moved from its stack site near Northstar Island, off Prudhoe Bay using two Crowley Sea Victory Class 7,200 bhp twin screw oceangoing tugs with more than 110 tons bollard pull each.

Crowley's First Russian Flagged Vessel Starts Work

Crowley Maritime Corporation's Marine Services unit announced the deployment of the Crowley Alliance, the company's first Russian flagged and crewed vessel serving the offshore oil industry near Sakhalin Island, Russia. The vessel is owned and operated by Crowley Far East Services, a Crowley subsidiary formed and incorporated in Sakhalin State, Russia. The subsidiary, which is part of the corporation's marine services segment, offers marine and shore side logistics and transportation services to the energy and construction industries in the region. A contest to name the vessel was held amongst the students at the Senior High School of Korsakov, Russia.

Sakhalin-1 Production Starts

Exxon Mobil subsidiary, Exxon Neftegas Limited, has commenced production from the multiphase Sakhalin-1 Project offshore Eastern Russia. The initial phase of the project will produce 50,000 barrels (6,300 metric tons) a day by year-end 2005 and 250,000 barrels (33,000 metric tons) a day of oil by year-end 2006 from the Chayvo field. Associated domestic gas sales will start at about 60 million cubic feet (1.7 million cubic meters) per day, and ultimately are expected to increase to about 250 million cubic feet (7.1 million cubic meters) per day by the end of the decade. The project start-up was on schedule and within about 10% of unit development cost expectations.
