Successful FAT of WINBS for UK Royal Navy
Anschütz completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of its Warship Integrated Navigation and Bridge System (WINBS) for the first ship of the new Type 31 Inspiration Class for the UK Royal Navy. Anschütz, as part of the Thales led T31 Missions Systems team, is delivering the first Integrated Bridge and Navigation System for the Babcock Type 31 Arrowhead 140 frigates in the New Year.The FAT was carried out by Anschuetz UK Ltd., who are responsible for the integration, testing and commissioning of the Type 31 WINBS.

Ecochlor Opens New Factory
Ecochlor opened a new factory in North Haven, Connecticut for production of the chlorine dioxide generator for its ballast water management system (BWMS).Due to a surge in orders, ProFlow, Inc., Ecochlor's manufacturing partner, was able to quickly increase production capacity and efficiency by simultaneously incorporating LEAN manufacturing procedures and maintaining itsISO 9001 certification. First Mobile MTU Gas Engines for Rederij Doeksen
The first two preproduction units of the new mobile MTU gas engine from Rolls-Royce have completed performance tests and were accepted by the customer at the beginning of December. MTU delivered the first two of a total of four 16-cylinder Series 4000 gas engines, each with an output of 1,492 kW, for two new catamarans. From 2018, the two aluminum vessels will operate ferry services on the Dutch Wadden Sea. They are currently being built by Strategic Marineās shipyard in Vietnam for the Dutch shipping company Doeksen.
WinGD X52 Diesel FAT and TAT Completed
Following an extensive test program in the presence of eight classification societies, the latest development in Winterthur Gas & Dieselās Generation X low-speed diesel engine range, the X52, completed both its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Type Approval Test (TAT). The newly certified engine is the five-cylinder version of the 52 cm bore X52 diesel from Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD), and completion of the important TAT and FAT signals that the X52 is ready for commercial applications. Testing took place at the Shanghai engine works of WinGD licensee Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd.
Kongsberg Camera System for Canadian Navy Vessel
Aberdeen based Kongsberg Maritime camera systems group has delivered a new large network IP CCTV system to Chantier Davie Canada for installation aboard the new Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Auxiliary Naval Replenishment Ship, known currently as āProject Resolveā. Project Resolve was established to develop an interim fleet supply vessel for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). The project purchased MS Asterix, a commercial containership, and is converting it into an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment ship that will be chartered by the Royal Canadian Navy.

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. said it has designed, manufactured, tested and delivered its 350th rotational torque (RT) torque machine to TAM International, a globally recognized downhole inflatable packer leader. Raytheon Anschütz Selected as INS Provider for Canadaās OFSV
Thales, a major system integrator in Canada, has chosen Raytheon Anschütz as the supplier of the Integrated Navigation System (INS) for the Canadian Coast Guardās (CCG) new Offshore Fisheries Science Vessels (OFSV). As part of the OFSV program, three new vessels are being built for the CCG at Seaspanās Vancouver Shipyards. The 63-metre vessels are designed to operate in the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. Their mission profile is to conduct fishing and acoustic surveys and collect oceanographic data to monitor changes in the ecosystem.
Japanās First ME-GI Engine Passes Factory Tests
The factory acceptance test (FAT) of the first ME-GI engine in Japan recently took place at the Tamano Works of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES), overseen by classification society DNV GL. The engine, developed by MAN Diesel & Turbo, is the first of two 8S70ME-C8.2-GI units for delivery to U.S. shipbuilder VT Halter Marine for installation aboard two 2,400-teu ConRo ships for Crowley Maritime Corporation. VT Halter laid keels for the new vessels in January and August, respectively.
RoRo Launched for Royal Bahamas Defense Force
A Damen RoRo 5612 was launched this month at Halong Shipyard in Vietnam, the shipbuilder announced. The RoRo is one of nine Damen vessels ordered by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force as part of its Sandy Bottom Project. The vesselās multipurpose capabilities will be put to use by the Defense Force in a range of situations including law enforcement, aids to navigation (ATON), replenishment at sea (RAS), the re-supply to Defense Force bases and the provision of disaster relief throughout the island nation and the wider Caribbean community.

The first Wärtsilä low-speed two-stroke dual-fuel (DF) engine destined for a commercial application has reportedly completed its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at a Chinese licensee of Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD), the Switzerland-based designer, developer and licensor of Wärtsilä brand low-speed two-stroke engines. The engine is a five cylinder, 50 cm bore 5RT-flex50DF built by Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. (YCMP) at its factory in Doumen, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, in the South of the Peopleās Republic of China.
Wärtsilä X92 Engine for Mega Boxship
The first in a series of 'mega-class' container vessels being built for French Ship owner CMA CGM will be powered by the Wärtsilä X92, low-speed, 2-stroke engine. The vessel is to be built by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC) in Subic Bay, Philippines. WinGD is the joint venture company between Wärtsilä and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), which took over Wärtsilä's 2-stroke engine business in January 2015. The company is owned 70 per cent by CSSC and 30 per cent by Wärtsilä. The new vessel will have a cargo capacity of more than 20,000 TEU and will be the largest container ship in the CMA CGM fleet. The Wärtsilä X92 engine chosen to power this huge vessel is the largest of Wärtsilä's Generation X series of engines.
