Hythe Shipyard Opens in Southampton

Fairline Yachts announced the opening of Hythe Shipyard at its new manufacturing facility on the south coast of England. Originally designed and built by the U.S. Navy in the 1950s, the slipway at Hythe was used to launch landing craft that were manufactured at the site. Hammond New International Sales Manager, Fairline Yachts

British luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Fairline Yachts, announces Robert Hammond as its new International Sales Manager. Robert will be responsible for Fairline's global sales operations and managing its worldwide dealer network. A former military pilot, Robert, has held similar roles in commercial aviation and corporate yachting, developing sales opportunities and managing client relations. Having lived, worked and sailed worldwide, Robert brings valuable experience in understanding the requirements of Fairline’s varied global customer base. Robert comments, “It is a truly exciting time to have joined Fairline, following the recent announcement of its partnership with Alberto Mancini and a host of new boat launches on the horizon.

Russians to Acquire Fairline Boats

Crisis-hit yacht manufacturer Fairline Boats has been saved after the firm was bought by two Russian investors. A new company, Fairline Acquisitions, funded by two UK-based Russian investors with a background in the marine sector, is to take on the failed company’s order book and initially plans to recruit around 100 of the 380 staff who were made redundant before Christmas. It will be run by Russell Currie, who has been a Fairline dealer for 18 years where he has made sales of more than £90 million. Currie said: “I am delighted to have been appointed managing director for Fairline Yachts. With the resources of the investors, coupled with the expert knowledge of the management team and our energy and passion for the brand, the structure is in place for a great future for Fairline Yachts.
