Fairplay Towage Order Ice-class Workboat from Damen

Fairplay Towage Polska has ordered a Shoalbuster 2711 ICE vessel from the standardized workboat portfolio of the Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group. The company will use the newbuild to perform Designed with extremely shallow draft capability, large cargo capacity and 45 tonne bollard pull, the vessel will be built in Poland and used for diverse operations, including in the offshore wind industry, in the Baltic and North seas.Despite the standard nature of the design, Damen is able to tailor the vessel to the requirements of its clients.

Telemar Wins 50-vessel Service Deal with Fairplay Towage

Marlink subsidiary Telemar said it signed a five-year service maintenance deal with Fairplay Towage to deliver bridge maintenance services across 50 of the company’s port and ocean tugs in Germany, Holland and Belgium.The contracts will consolidate service of critical bridge navigation equipment to a single provider, and scheduled service will be planned to agreed timeframes.The contract includes managing GMDSS declarations, annual radio survey, annual radar inspection, exchange of reserve-power batteries for GMDSS and SART/EPIRB/GMDSS handheld batteries.

MTU, Fairplay to Test Diesel Genset with SCR for IMO Tier III

MTU diesel genset 16V 4000 with SCR exhaust aftertreatment for IMO Tier III emission requirements. The nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions will be cut by 90% compared with the IMO Tier I regulation.

The Rolls-Royce brand MTU and Fairplay Towage are to test an MTU diesel genset with SCR exhaust aftertreatment in a harbor tug in order to verify compliance with IMO Tier III emission requirements that come into force as of 2016. The nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions will be cut by 90% compared with the IMO Tier I regulation that was introduced in 2000. “This is one of the world’s first tests of high-speed diesel engines equipped with an SCR system designed to meet the NOx levels required by IMO Tier III,” said Dr. Michael Haidinger, Chief Sales Officer of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

HATLAPA Supplies Winches to Emergency Tug

HATLAPA is playing an active role in helping to protecting our coastlines. The manufacturer‟s experience in the development and production of steering gear, compressors, deck machinery and offshore winches has led to a 2.5 million Euro order for deck machinery, steering gear and compressors for the Nordic. Initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, the construction of the emergency tug vessel was undertaken by three ship owners in the German Bight – Bugsier, Fairplay Towage and Unterweser – joined by Wiking Helikopter, a local specialist helicopter company.

FleetBroadband for Fairplay Towage Deep-Sea Tugboats

Stratos Global is deploying the Inmarsat FleetBroadband satellite communications service on six deep-sea tugboats in Fairplay Towage’s fleet. Deployment on four of the vessels already has been completed. Based in Hamburg, Fairplay Towage is a tugboat operators in the ports of Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Rostock, Wismar, Szczecin and Swinoujscie. Its fleet includes 27 modern vessels for harbor, coastal and deep-sea towage. Stratos has activated more than 6,700 FleetBroadband terminals and was recognized as the Inmarsat Distribution Partner making the greatest contribution to FleetBroadband global sales growth in 2010. Fairplay Towage is also deploying Stratos’ AmosConnect Crew CommCenter.

Multraship Christens Two Latest Tugs

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship christened its two newest Azimuth stern-drive multipurpose tugs in a special ceremony at the Portaal van Vlaanderen in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, on February 4, 2011. Joan Nuijten-Muller of Multraship performed the christening ceremony on Multratug 18, which was delivered in 2009 by the Vega Shipyard in Bandirma, Turkey. Multratug 18 is 117.1 ft loa, with a moulded beam of 37.7 ft, and is designed for a multi-role capability for harbour, escort and sea towage as well as fire-fighting and salvage roles.

Multraship Takes Delivery of New Damen Tug

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship has bolstered its fleet of specialised tugs and multi-purpose vessels with the addition of the Damen newbuilding ASD 3213 tug Multratug 3. On September 30, the vessel will embark on its delivery voyage from Vietnam, where it was built by Damen Shipyards, to Terneuzen, Multraship’s home port in The Netherlands. Fairplay Towage and Multraship Launch JV in Antwerp

Antwerp Towage NV, a 50/50 joint venture between Fairplay and Multraship will deploy Multratug 5, as well as Fairplay 22,  Fairplay 17, and Multratug 10, providing a four-vessel fleet.

Fairplay Towage and Multraship have jointly launched a new company to provide towage services in . Antwerp Towage NV, a 50/50 joint venture between Fairplay and Multraship, is the first new initiative launched by the two companies following the signing of an agreement in August this year by which Fairplay Towage took a 50 percent stake in Multraship. The new company will have an office on the Tavenierkaai in and will provide shipowners and charterers with a responsive and efficient tug service in the river areas of the .

Fairplay and Multraship Join Forces

Dutch towage and salvage specialist Multraship and Hamburg-based Fairplay Towage have joined forces to create a platform for expansion. Under the agreement , the Dutch arm of the Fairplay group, will take a 50 percent shareholding in Muller Maritime Holding, the holding company for Multraship. The two companies joined forces in order to strengthen their strategic position and intend to expand their activities jointly. Under the agreement Multraship will continue to be managed by the existing family board and management. Expansion of the office staff and tug crews is anticipated as the company takes delivery of new vessels and expands into new markets.

SMIT Completes Acquisition of URS

Smit Internationale N.V. announced that it has completed the acquisition of the remaining 50 percent interest from Fairplay Towage in URS. All conditions as mentioned in the press release of December 31, 2007 have been fulfilled. With the URS operation SMIT further strengthens its leading position in the Belgium towage market. Further information will follow with the 2007 year results, which will be published on March 6.

SMIT Acquires Remaining 50 Percent in URS

Smit Internationale N.V. agreed with Fairplay Towage to acquire Fairplay Towage’s 50 percent interest in URS. Through this acquisition SMIT will become 100 percent shareholder of URS, the leading towage provider in Belgium. The total consideration for this transaction amounts to EUR 182.5 million. The transaction will be paid partly in shares and partly in cash. The calculation is based on SMIT’s share price at closing of Euronext Amsterdam of December 28 of EUR 68.34. SMIT will increase its outstanding shares by issuing new shares to an amount of 9.99% of its outstanding shares, as per today which represents an amount of EUR 108 million. The cash consideration amounts to EUR 74.5 million.
