KML Plays Key Role in Rescue of Stricken Russian Ship

Marine contractors, Keynvor Morlift (KML), played a significant role on Tuesday in saving the Russian ship, ‘Kuzma Minin’, which ran aground just off Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth.KML’s large all weather commercial Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), was the 1st vessel alongside after the ship ran aground at around 0500 on Tuesday morning. Fundraiser Celebrates Maritime Museum

A black tie fundraising gala dinner event at National Maritime Museum Cornwall, in the company of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, raised over £80,000 for the Museum last week. The event called a Night at the Museum, celebrated the Museum’s 10th birthday and launched a new 10-year campaign to raise £4 million over the next decade. More than 120 guests enjoyed a champagne reception overlooking Falmouth’s harbor in the Museum’s Waterside café followed by a candlelit five course meal in the Museum’s Main Hall.

Maritime Anti-Piracy, The Captain’s Guide Book

The fight against global piracy is as old as the seas themselves. Recent years have seen huge increases in pirate attacks against commercial shipping and, while the risk of piracy off East Africa is now believed to be somewhat diminished, the threat remains in the region and the cost to the global economy has been estimated to be as much as $6 billion by Oceans Beyond Piracy in their 2012 report. Piracy in West Africa and the South China Sea, meanwhile, is very much on the increase.

Cape Wind announce it will base its operations headquarters on Falmouth Harbor on Cape Cod.
