Russia Says Traces of Explosives Found on Foreign Grain Ship

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Monday that it had found traces of explosives on a ship travelling from Turkey to the port of Rostov-on-Don in Russia to pick up grain.The FSB said the ship had been docked in the Ukrainian port of Kiliia in May, and that it may have been used to deliver explosives to Ukraine.It said the ship had changed its name while in the Turkish port of Tuzla earlier this month and replaced its crew, which had consisted of 12 Ukrainian nationals."These…

Gas Tankers Stranded near Russia due to Crimea Bridge Restrictions

Several tankers loaded with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have been unable to cross under Russia's Crimea bridge due to security restrictions, traders said on Friday, prompting suppliers to use other routes out of Russia.The 12-mile (19 km) road and rail bridge, which was personally opened by President Vladimir Putin in 2018, was bombed in October in an attack Russia said was carried out by Ukraine. The bridge spans the Kerch Strait linking the Black Sea with the smaller Azov sea. Kyiv never claimed responsibility for the bombing of the bridge on the morning of Oct. 8, a day after Putin's 70th birthday. Russia's Federal Security Service said the attack was organized by Ukrainian military intelligence.

Ships at Risk as Mines from Ukraine Drift into the Black Sea

Russia Detains Two N.Korean Vessels After Attack

Russian border guards detained two North Korean racketeering vessels in Russian territorial waters in the Sea of Japan after one of them attacked a Russian patrol ship, the TASS news agency cited the FSB security service as saying on Tuesday."The crew of a North Korean schooner (more than 45 people) carried out an armed attack on a border patrol ship's inspection team. Russian Court Rejects Plea to Release Greenpeace Ship

The Murmansk Regional Court has rejected an appeal against the arrest of the ship 'Arctic Sunrise' by Russian authorities reports Greenpeace. "This is an extremely disappointing ruling. RS Will Participate in IMDS 2013

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will for the first time participate in the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2013) to take place in St Petersburg from July 3-7, 2013. Russia to Set Up Northern Sea Route Naval Infrastructure

Russia will create several hubs along the Northern Sea Route to enforce security in the region. New Patrol Boats for Russian Coast Guard

The ship, named the Brilliant, was developed by the Severnoye Design Bureau and built at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg. Project 22460 ships are designed to protect state borders and patrol territorial waters, and also to fight sea piracy. The new vessels are intended to replace the Soviet-built patrol fleet. The lead ship of the project, the Rubin, was handed over to the Russian Federal Security Service’s Black Sea-Azov Frontier Directorate in September 2010. Another serial ship, the Zhemchug, is currently under construction. Project 22460 ships’ water displacement is 630 tons; they have a maximum speed of 30 knots, an operating range of 3,500 miles, and endurance of up to 30 days. The 62.5-meter vessels are equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems and a helipad.

Coast Guard Hosts Russian Federal Security Service
