OCI Global and X-Press Feeders Sign Green Methanol Offtake Agreement

OCI Global will supply X-Press Feeders with OCI HyFuels green methanol for their newbuild methanol dual-fueled common feeder ships from 2024.The green methanol will be used to fuel X-Press Feeders’ upcoming dual-fuel vessels servicing European ports and will be supplied in the Port of Rotterdam from 2024.X-Press Feeders says it will be the first common feeder operator with methanol fueled vessels on the water in Europe.Earlier this year OCI announced its partnership with Unibarge to retrofit the first methanol powered bunker barge which will be deployed at the Port of Rotterdam.

SAFEEN Feeders Adds Secondhand Containership in the Arabian Gulf

Team Lines Stops Operations

OSC’s New Feeder Service Links Oman to UAE

Oman Shipping Company (OSC) is launching a new freight service linking all Omani ports to the United Arab Emirates by mid-April, 2016, in a move that aims to boost trade links. OSC’s new fortnightly Oman Express Service will be the first freight feeder operator to connect all Omani ports. It will be run by OSC subsidiary Oman Container Lines (OCL). OSC chief executive Tarik Mohamed Al Junaidi said the new service will be cheaper and faster than the road transport which currently handles all freight to the interiors.

Rickmers Maritime Reports Significant Loss

Rickmers Maritime, which is affiliated to the Hamburg-based Rickmers Group,  slumped to a $129.2 million loss in 2015 from a $16 million profit a year earlier on increased write offs on the value of its ships and depressed container charter rates. The Container ship operator's charter revenue from its fleet of 16 container ships shrank by 17 percent to $108.5 million from $130.3 million last time. The bulk of the full-year loss was in the fourth quarter when the deficit widened to $129.6 million from $16 million last time, due mainly to an impairment charge of $128.4 million. This took the impairment bill for the full year to $148 million against $63 million in 2014.

Evergreen Launches India-Gulf Service

Evergreen Line announced it will partner with Simatech, a feeder operator based in Dubai, in launching a joint Chennai-Colombo-Gulf Service (CCG) service next month aiming to improve its service on the India-Gulf trade. The CCG service will utilize four containerships of around 2,000 TEU each; one to be operated by Evergreen Line and the remaining three by Simatech. The first sailing of the weekly service will be from Colombo on May 9th and call at Vizag (India), Krishnapatnam (India), Chennai (India), Colombo, Cochin (India), Jebel Ali (UAE), Sohar (Oman), Cochin and Colombo once more. New Intra-Europe Container Service Debut

Founded in March 2004 and based in Antwerp, Belgium, Delphis NV is a new company that will be active on the intra-European transport market. Delphis is targeting customers in need of European transport solutions : direct shippers, forwarders, deep sea lines and tank/bulk container operators. Delphis' first service is a new short sea container shipping connection between Gdansk (Poland) and Hull (UK). DCT Gdansk celebrates Phase 1 completion

The completion of the first phase of development of Poland’s new deepwater container terminal, DCT Gdansk, was celebrated yesterday with a reception onboard the cruise vessel Lady Assa. DCT Gdansk management and directors were joined by public, city and port officials, representatives from the international shipping community, and civil engineers involved in the construction process as the vessel sailed from her berth at Motlawa in Gdansk’s ‘old town’ to DCT Gdansk’s 650m of completed quay. With Phase One of the terminal development up and running, DCT Gdansk recently announced weekly calls by leading global container line CMA CGM and feeder specialist Team Lines, while Lithuania-based feeder operator ISN has also initiated a weekly call between DCT Gdansk and Kaliningrad.
